*********************GIRSA SECTION*********************

We recommend using the textual changes suggested by the Bach and the marginal notes of the Vilna Shas. This section is devoted to any other important corrections that Acharonim have pointed out in the Gemara, Rashi and Tosfos.

[1] Gemara 104a [line 34]:

The words "v'Chosem b'Seder Bereishis" וחותם בסדר בראשית

should be "v'Chosem b'Soder Bereishis" וחותם בסודר בראשית

This is the Girsa of the early printings and Rashbam. (Hagahos Dikdukei Sofrim #90)

[2] Gemara 104a [line 48]:

The words "Tana mi'Shmei d'Rebbi Yehoshua ben Chananya" תנא משמיה דרבי יהושע בן חנניא

should be "Tana mi'Shemei d'Rebbi Yehoshua ben Levi" תנא משמיה דרבי יהושוע בן לוי

This is the Girsa in the manuscripts, and is plausible since Rebbi Yehoshua ben Levi appears elsewhere in the Mishnah (Avos 6:2 and Uktzin 3:13). (Dikdukei Sofrim #2)

1)[line 2]איברא, "בין יום השביעי לששת ימי המעשה" מעין חתימה היאIBRA, "BEIN YOM HA'SHEVI'I L'SHESHES YEMEI HA'MA'ASEH" ME'EIN CHASIMAH HI- the truth is that "Bein Yom ha'Shevi'i l'Sheshes Yemei ha'Ma'aseh" is similar to [the idea expressed in] the conclusion [of the Berachah, and is therefore not included in the number of divisions mentioned]

This person was a Tana.

8)[line 25]לית הלכתא כוותיהLEIS HILCHASA KAVASEI- [the Gemara concludes, however, that] the Halachah does not follow this opinion

9)[line 32]חרבהCHARAVAH- dry land

10)[line 34]וחותם (בסדר) [בסודר] בראשיתV'CHOSEM (B'SEDER) [B'SODER] BEREISHIS- and he concludes with [Baruch Atah...] Soder Bereishis ("Who arranges creation"). This is because HaSh-m began to do so on the first Motza'i Shabbos in history.)
