Motzi-Matzah

מוציא מצה	Motzi Matzah
יקח המצות בסדר שהניחן, הפרוסה בין שתי השלמות, יאחז שלשתן בידו ויברך "המוציא" בכוונה לבצוע מן העליונה. מניחים את המצה התחתונה, ומברכים "על אכילת מַצָּה" בכוונה לאכל מן הפרוסה. אחר כך יבצע כזית מן העליונה השלמה, וכזית שני מן הפרוסה, ויאכל בהסבה את שני הזיתים. (ומוסיפים לפי הצורך ממצות נוספת, עד שכל המסובים מקבלים את הכמות הנ"ל.)	Take out the Matzos in the order in which they lie - the broken one between the two whole ones. Hold all three, and recite "Ha'Motzi" with the intention to take from the top one. Set down the bottom Matzah, and recite "Al Achilas Matzah" with the intention of eating from the broken one. Break off a k'Zayis from both the top (whole) Matzah, and the middle (broken) Matzah, and eat both while reclining. (Supplement with extra Matzah as necessary, so that all present receive the required amount.)
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ה', אֱ-לֹקֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, הַמּוֹצִיא לֶחֶם מִן הָאָרֶץ.	Blessed are You, Hashem our G-d, King of the Universe, who brings forth bread from the ground.
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ה', אֱ-לֹקֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו וְצִוָּנוּ עַל אֲכִילַת מַצָּה.	Blessed are You, Hashem our G-d, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments and has commanded us on the eating of Matzah.

Why do we hold both the whole and the broken Matzah while reciting the "Ha'Motzi" blessing?
