MITZVOS OF THE DAY

1) Rationale -

Why did Chazal institute specifically these Mitzvos on Purim?

2) Why no Berachah? -

Why is no Berachah recited upon performing these Mitzvos?

3) Shehecheyanu? -

If one is unable to read or hear the Megilah (and recite Shehecheyanu on it), should Shehecheyanu be recited when performing the other Mitzvos of the day, such as Mishloach Manos? Can it be recited over the day of Purim itself?

1. Discussion for Megilah 7:5, follow-up in second reply

2. Yosef Da'as to Megilah 5:p9, ד"ה מי שלא בירך

4) Women -

5) Sending in advance -

Can one send Mishloach Manos or Matanos La'Evyonim in advance of Purim day, and fulfill the Mitzvah?

MISHLOACH MANOS

6) Guidelines -

Can one of the two portions in Mishloach Manos be a drink, or must they be food? Must both portions be sent simultaneously? Can both be the same type of food? What can be derived from the way the Amora'im in the Gemara fulfilled Mishloach Manos?

7) A Messenger? -

Must one use a messenger to deliver the "Mishloach"? Can the messenger be a child?

8) To Children? -

May an adult fulfill Mishloach Manos by sending to a minor? What about Matanos La'Evyonim?

9) Restrictions: Men to women -

In what circumstances should a man not send Mishloach Manos to a woman?

10) Restrictions: To an Avel -

May one send Mishloach Manos to a recipient who is in the 12 months of mourning for a parent? What would be an exception to this rule?

MATANOS LA'EVYONIM

11) Criteria -

What are criteria that qualify a person as an "Evyon," eligible to receive Matanos La'Evyonim?

1. Discussion for Megilah 7:11, see there for Marei Mekomos

2. Yosef Da'as to Megilah 7:p6, אות י.

12) Amount -

What amount should be given for Matanos La'Evyonim? Is it better to spend more on Matanos La'Evyonim, or on Mishloach Manos and the Seudah?

13) Distribution and Use -

What are the guidelines for the distribution of funds collected for Matanos La'Evyonim - and for their use by the Evyonim?
