WARNING

1) Swarm mentality -

What does the name "Arbeh" mean? What was their character?

2) Pinpoint timing -

Locusts are common in eastern countries. How would Pharaoh know that it was a plague sent by Hashem?

3) Weakened resolve -

Remarkably, prior to the Plague of Locusts, Pharaoh's own servants begged him to change his stance and send out the Bnei Yisrael -- and even Pharaoh tentatively agreed. Why specifically now?

REASON

4) Fitting punishment -

Why did Hashem bring the Plague of Locusts upon the Egyptians?

5) Two stages -

Barad and Arbeh were essentially the same Makah, split into two stages. (Each destroyed the Egyptians' food supply; the Arbeh merely finished off what the Barad had left over). If so, why was Makas Arbeh necessary? Why not strike all the crops at once?

EXTENT

6) Insatiable appetite -

Aside from the crops and plants, what else did the locusts devour?

AFTERMATH

7) Disappearance -

Why does the Torah not record that at the plague's conclusion, the locusts died (or that the wild beasts in the plague of Arov died - as it does regarding the frogs)?
