What do we learn from "v'Adecha Yavo"?

1.

Rashi: The Navi says, that day that you mock and say that it is Batel, really, it is guarded. Your congregation will come to Bavel to destroy it.

2.

Rashi citing Targum Yonasan: At that time, the exiled of Yisrael will come from Ashur?

3.

Radak: The day of salvation of Yisrael ? the enemy will come to destroy [Yisrael].

4.

Malbim: Even if that day will be in the distant future, it will come ? "Im Yismahmah Chake Lo" (Chabakuk 2:3).

2)

Why does it say "l'Mini Ashur"?

1.

Rashi: Ashur it is the head of those who harmed us.

2.

Radak: It is the first place that Yisrael were exiled [after receiving Eretz Yisrael ? PF]. "L'Mini" is like l'Min, like "Mini Efrayim" (Shoftim 5:14).

3)

What is the meaning of "v'Arei Matzor"?

1.

Rashi: This is like v'Ad Arei Matzor.

2.

Radak citing Targum Yonasan: Ul'Mini Hormini 1 . Radak ? so he translated "Mini v'Ashkenaz" (Yirmeyahu 51:27) 'Mini Torei Hormini.'

3.

Radak: This is like Arei Mivtzar. I.e. they will not escape due to their strength. The same applies to "va'Tiven Tzor Matzor" (Zecharyah 9:3) and many similar verses.

4.

Malbim: This refers to fortified cities where they were exiled in the days of Sancheriv.

Our text of Yonason here is ud'Min Chormini Rabsa (from the great Chermon), and in Yirmeyahu 'Mashriyas Hormini.' (PF)

What do we learn from "ul'Mini Matzor"?

1.

Radak #1: And from Arei Mivtzar until the river, i.e. Pras. It is one of the borders of Eretz Yisrael. From there and onwards is Chutz la'Aretz.

2.

Radak #2: This refers to Egypt. Also "v'Dalelu v'Charvu Ye'orei Matzor", "Kol Ye'orei Matzor" (Yeshayah 19:6, 37:25) refer to Egypt.

3.

Malbim: This refers to exiles in Egypt and until the Pras river ? "u'Va'u ha'Ovedim b'Eretz Ashur veha'Nidachim b'Eretz Mitzrayim", "v'Hecherim Hashem Es Leshon Yam Mitzrayim v'Henif Yado Al ha'Nahar" (Yeshayah 27:13, 11:15).

5)

What does "v'Yam mi'Yam" include?

1.

Rashi: Those who dwell [by] Yam ha'Acharon, in the west.

2.

Radak: "V'Ad" applies also to this ? until the sea, which is the western border.

3.

Malbim: It includes those who were exiled to the west via the Romiyim, who came via the Yam.

6)

What does "v'Har ha'Har" include?

1.

Rashi: Those who dwell in the mountain.

2.

Targum Yonasan: Turei Tura (the mountain of mountains).

3.

Radak: This is Hor ha'Har where Aharon died. It is one of the borders of Eretz Yisrael ? "me'Hor ha'Har Tesa'u Levo Chamas 1 " (Bamidbar 34:8). Even though there it says Hora'ah with a Cholem, and here it has a Patach, they are the same. Yisrael will destroy the lands of their enemies around their borders ? they were evil neighbors and harmed Yisrael with all their strength.

4.

Malbim: It includes those who were exiled to the north. They will come from Hor ha'Har, which is in the north of Eretz Yisrael.

1

The verse implies that Hor ha'Har is in Eretz Yisrael. Moshe and Aharon did not enter the land, yet they came to Hor ha'Har (Bamidbar 20:23)! Moshav Zekenim (ibid. 34:4) ? Aharon died south of Eretz Yisrael, on the border of Eretz Edom. A different Hor ha'Har is on the northern border. (How can Radak answer? ? PF)
