Why does it say "Gam"?

1.

Ibn Ezra, Metzudas David: Because it said "v'Gam Lo la'Chachamim Lechem" (11) it says also oppositely, to praise a Chacham.

2.

Seforno: Even though I said that sometimes Chachmah does not help to attain a desired temporary matter when the Ma'arachah or occurrences oppose it, I saw that sometimes Chachmah defeats the Ma'arachah or occurrences, especially when it is not sudden.

What is the meaning of "Gedolah Hi Elai"?

1.

Rav Sadya Gaon, Metzudas David: It is important in my eyes.

2.

Rashbam: It is very astounding to me.

3.

Ri Kara: Even though people disgrace it - "v'Chachmas ha'Misken Bezuyah u'Dvarav Einam Nishma'im" (16), it is great to me. A Chacham can save with his Chachmah what Giborim cannot save with their Gevurah. Chachmah is greater than the swiftness and Gevurah mentioned above (11).
