What is "Shigayon"?

1.

Rashi citing Menachem: It is one of the names of a Mizmor, based on the Kli [with which it was sung]. He similarly explained "Al Shigyonos" (Chabakuk 3:1).

2.

Rashi (from Shocher Tov 18): It is an expression of Mishgeh (error). He confessed and prayed for his error, that he sang Shirah over the fall of Sha'ul 1 - "va'Ydaber David la'Shem [

1

Rashi: The Mizmor implies unlike this (some texts - for it discusses the nations).

2)

Why does it say "Al Divrei Kush"?

1.

Radak: It is about the matters of Kush (i.e. Sha'ul). This is like "Al Devar ha'Tzefarde'im" (Shemos 8:8). He had many matters with David, and many times he thought to kill him. When David married Sha'ul's daughter, Sha'ul wanted to kill him via Pelishtim. Later he wanted to kill him in his house. When David was in front of him, he cast a spear at him several times. When David separated, he chased him many times.

Who is "Kush ben Yemini"?

1.

Rashi (from Mo'ed Katan 16b): It refers to Sha'ul. Just like the skin of a Kushi (Ethiopian) is different (it is black), so Sha'ul was different in his deeds.

2.

Radak: It refers to Sha'ul. [He was beautiful,] just like a Kushi is beautiful, like "ha'Ishah ha'Kushis" (Bamidbar 12:1 - the Targum is Itsa Shapirta), and so explain all the Meforshim. Just like a Kushi does not change his skin (it is always black), so Sha'ul did not change in his hatred of David 1 . This is like "ha'Yahafoch Kushi Oro

1

Ibn Ezra: This is wrong. How can we say so about Mashi'ach Hashem - "Hinei Yechabel Aven" (verse 15)! Radak - this is not difficult. David said "me'Resha'im Yetzei Resha", "u'Nekamani Hashem Mimeka" (Shmuel I, 24:13, 12). (Sha'ul ceased to hate him twice, when David proved that he passed up an opportunity to kill Sha'ul! However, later he returned to hate him. - PF)

2

Indeed, Shocher Tov infers from the verse that this refers to Sha'ul, but it does not explain why he is called Kush. (PF)
