Malbim (2): There are two reasons why people have children. (a) To perpetuate the species - also animals do so. (b) Man's Nefesh speaks; his children are his heirs for this. The nation had Banim Zarim because they transgressed two Brisim regarding these - Bris Basar ("Kulam Mena'afim") and Bris ha'Lashon ("va'Yadrechu Es Leshonam" - verse 2).
