What are the connotations of the phrase "Vehayu La'avod es Avodas Ohel Mo'ed"?

1.

R. Bachye (on Pasuk 3 citing Bamidbar Rabah): "Vehayu" implies that the oxen will live and the wagons will last, forever 1 - in response to Moshe concern that one of the oxen might die or one of the wheels might break, rendering the Korban of the Nesi'im Pasul and nullifying the Meleches ha'Mishkan.

2.

Seforno (on Pasuk 10): It refers to the Avodah of transportation performed by the B'nei Gershon and the B'nei Merari.

3.

Targum Yonasan: It means that ultimately (when the wagons and the oxen would no longer be needed for transportation), the wood will go up on the Ma'arachah to burn the Korbanos 2 and the oxen in the form of Korbanos. 3

1

Literally, according to R. Meir. According to the Chachamim, Sh'lomoh ha'Melech sacrificed the oxen on the Mizbe'ach after he built the Beis-Hamikdash. See R. Bachye page 38.

2

See Na'ar Yonasan

Whereas the end of the Pasuk is referring to their current use.
