Does the verse omit Shmuel's lineage?

1.

Malbim: "U'Vnei" is used twice - it means u'Vno Shmuel, and u'Vnei Shmuel.

2)

What is the meaning of "ha'Bechor va'Shni va'Aviyah"?

1.

'Rashi': Veha'Sheni Aviyah - he was second to Shmuel's first son, and Yo'el, who was not written here. We find like this (the prefix Vov is in place of Vov Hei) - "Ki Im ha'Sus Asur va'Chamor 1 Asur", and ha'Par ha'Sheni of Gid'on, and also the first 2 (Shofetim 6:26).

2.

Radak citing others: The Bechor is not mentioned, for it is known that he is Yo'el, and the second is Aviyah, like it says in Sefer Shmuel "u'Mishnehu Aviyah." The prefix Vov with a Patach is like veha, e.g. va'Chamor Asur 3 . Malbim - va'Shni means veha'Sheni; the prefix Hei ha'Yedi'ah (to specify) is often swallowed in the Patach under a prefix in front of it, e.g. ba'Shamayim. Va'Shni is like Sheni; really, it should say Sheniyi, like Shelishi, just it is changed due to the difficulty of pronouncing two consecutive Yud's. Ezra copied from the Sefer of lineage, in which it said ha'Bechor veha'Sheni, Yo'el va'Aviyah. Ezra omitted Yo'el, who was known; he left the Vov in va'Aviyah, like it was written.

3.

Radak: The Bechor's name is Vashni. He was called also Yo'el; often we find people called by different names.

1

In our texts, it says there veha'Chamor! Also Radak here says that it says va'Chamor there, but there his text is veha'Chamor! It seems that he cited others, and refuted them based on grammar, and did not mention that also their text is wrong. Refer to 6:13:2:2*. (PF)

2

Perhaps 'Rashi' means that also there, we must fix a prefix to show that the verse discusses both of them (like Malbim there, unlike Radak), even though there we must add a Vov. (PF)

3

Radak: This is wrong. Shni is not like Sheni. There is no proof from the Patach under the Vov. The Vov in va'Chamor has a Patach because a guttural letter follows it. Normally, Vov before a word beginning with Shva should have a Shuruk, like u'Zevulun. If Vov were a prefix here, it would say u'Shni! Also, does it say "ha'Bechor", and not mention him? We do not find like this! Also, they must say that the prefix Vov in va'Aviyah is extra. What forces them to say so?! (Malbim addressed these points to defend the Perush. - PF)
