1)

?Veshachat es ha?Chatas asher la?Am?. Why did Ahron bring the people?s Chatas only now?

1.

Seforno: Because now that he had atoned for himself he was eligible to atone for others. 1

1

Seforno: As the Navi writes in Tzefanya 2:1 ?Hiskosh?shu Vakoshu? (?Improve yourself and improve others?)..

2)

Seeing as there is only one Sa'ir Chatas, why does the Torah add "asher la'Am"?

1.

Rashi: To teach us that the Sa'ir, which atones for the people, atones for the sme sins as the Par atones for atones for Aharon. 1

2.

Seforno: To teach us that Aharon Shechted the Sa'ir only after he had finished the basic atonement for himself 2 with the blood of the Par. 3

3.

Targum Yonasan: To teach us that the goat must be bought with the people's money.

1

Refer to 16:6:4:1.

2

Seforno: As the Navi writes in Tzefanyah, 2:1 "Vekoshu". See also Oznayim la'Torah, DH 'Veshachat ? ' #2

3

See Oznayim la'Torah.

3)

The Torah has told Aharon to sprinkle the blood of the Sa'ir once above (See Torah Temimah, note 59) and the blood of the Par seven times below. How many times does he sprinkle the blood of the Sa'ir below and the blood of the Par above?

1.

Yoma 55a, The Torah writes "Ve'asah es Damo Ka'asher Asah le'Dom ha'Par" 1 to teach us that the Haza'os of the Par and and the Sa'ir are identical - that he sprinkles seven Ha'za'os of the Dam ha'Sa'ir below and one Haza'ah of the Dam ha'Par above. 2

1

See Torah Temimah, note 60.

2

See Torah Temimah, note 61.

4)

?Vehizah oso al ha?Kapores ve?Lifnei ha?Kapores?. Since as we learn the Haza?os of he Dam ha?Par and the Dam ha?Sa?ir from one another, why does the Torah need to insert ??ve?Lifnei ha?Kapores? Why can we not learn it from the Dam ha?Par?

1.

Yoma 55a: To compare ?Al ha?Kapores to ?Lifnei ha?Kapores?, inasmuch as ?Just as Lifnei ha?Kapores was not sprinkled on top of the lid, so too, must ?Al ha?Kapores not be sprinkled on top of the lid, only on its thickness. 1

1

Yoma ibid.: Consequently when the Kohen Gadol sprinkled ?on top?, he sprinkled it upwards by means of an underarm movement, and when he sprinkled below, he sprinkled downwards using an overarm movement.

5)

How could they offer Par and Se'ir Yom Kipur in Bayis Sheni, without the Aron? It says "Chukah", so [the Kapores, i.e. the Aron's cover] is Me'akev!

1.

Riva, citing Toras Kohanim: "B'Zos" includes even when there is not a Kapores.
