1)

Having already promised Yisrael bread above, in 16:4, why does Hashem see fit to repeat it here?

1.

Ramban: In Pasuk 4, it seems that Hashem was promising them bread purely out of loving-kindness - on His own volition, or out of Yisrael's merit. Therefore, He points out here that He was doing so in answer to their complaints, issuing a rebuke for their lack of faith in Him and for grumbling to His prophets.

2)

What are the connotations of "Shama'ati es Telunos B'nei Yisrael"?

1.

R. Bachye (citing the Pesikta Zuta): 'Evn though they arw grumbing, they are the B'nei Yisrael! They are My children, they are My Beloved ones; they are the Off-spring of Avrhm My beloved!'

3)

What it the significance of the double expression "Daber aleihem Leimor"?

1.

R. Bachye: It means that Moshe should speak to Yisrael partially in a harsh voice and partially in a solft voice. Refer to 16:8:0.2:1

4)

What is the connection between "u'va'Boker Tisbe'u Lechem" and "Viyeda'atem ki Ani Hashem Elokeihem"?

1.

R. Bachye: "Viyeda'atem ki Ani Hashem Elokeihem" refers to reciting Birchas ha'Mazon, and the Pasu mens that after eating the Manna, they should recite Birchas ha'Mazon, as the Gemara states in Brachos, 48b "Moshe instituted Birchas ha'Mazon. 1

2.

Rashbam: What Moshe meant was that when the Mnna fell they would know that Hashem is their G-d who brought them out of Egypt (to counter their complaint in Pasuk 3 "Mi Yiten Museinu be'Yad Hashem be'ERetz MItzrayim ? !")

See R. Bachye.

5)

Why does Hashem repeat here what Moshe already said in 16:8?

1.

Ramban: From Moshe's initial statement, the people probably understood that the Manna would fall once or twice, and that once they moved on, they would arrive at a location where bread was available. Hence Hashem now informed them that, for the duration of their stay in the desert, the quails would fall every night, 1 and the Manna, every day.

1

Ramban: Indeed, Chazal maintain that the quails, like the Manna, fell throughout the forty years that Yisrael were in the desert, and the reason that the Torah deals at length with the Manna exclusively is due to its miraculous nature. Refer also to 16:6:1:2. See Tosafos to Arachin 15b, DH 'His'u.' The Ramban also discusses the Parshah of the quails in Bamidbar 11:4, in view of the fact that the quails were already falling each night. See also Ba'al ha'Turim to 16:13.

6)

Why in this verse, are we promised meat "Bein ha'Arbayim" (which usually means afternoon); whereas above (16:8), Moshe says that Hashem would give us meat in the "Erev" (in the evening)?

1.

Refer to 16:8:0.1:1 .
