What is the meaning of "v'Yamav Niflegah ha'Aretz"?

1.

'Rashi': [The nations] were divided 1 , and people's years were shortened. People used to live 900 years and more. This was halved in the days of Arpachshad to 400 years and more. From Peleg and onwards, it was halved from 400 years to 200 years.

2.

Malbim: Initially everyone spoke the language of Ever. After the separation of languages, only Bnei Peleg still spoke the previous language. Avraham descended from Peleg, and he spoke Ever's language. He was called Peleg, for all were divided from him in their languages 2 .

1

Malbim: Dor ha'Flagah was in his days.

2

Even though all were divided also from each other, all used to have Peleg's language, and separated to speak a different language. (PF)
