What do we learn from "mi'Mizrach Shemesh v'Ad Mevo'o"?

1.

Radak: The entire civilization is from east to west. It does not say from north to south, for it is not all settled (i.e. close to the north and south poles).

2)

How is His name great among the Goyim?

1.

Rashi citing Menachos 110a: They call him the G-d of gods. Even one who has idolatry, he knows that Hashem is over all of them.

2.

Radak: Even though they serve the Heavenly legions, they admit that I am the First cause. However, they serve them based on their mindsets, that they are intermediaries between Me and them.

3.

Malbim: Even though all nations serve idolatry, they admit that there is a First cause above all of them, and they call him the G-d of gods. However, they say that it is below His honor to oversee living beings, and He handed over conduct of the lower world to His servants, like a king hands over conduct to his officers and servants, He wants people to honor them, for they serve the king and they are intermediaries between him and the nation. Their honor is honor of the king.

Who burns and offers to Hashem?

1.

Rashi: Even idolaters.

2.

Rashi citing Menachos 110a: This refers to Chachamim, who engage in laws of Avodah everywhere. Also the Tefilos of Yisrael everywhere are to Me like a Tahor Minchah.

3.

Rashi citing Targum Yonasan: Whenever you do My will, I accept your Tefilos, and My name is sanctified through you, and your Tefilah is like a Tahor Korban in front of Me. Rashi - the verse asks, why do you profane My name? It is great among the nations, and I loved you, and My dearness is upon you. Wherever you are, you pray in front of Me, and even in Galus.

4.

Radak #1: If I would command [the nations] like I commanded you, they would burn and offer for Me.

5.

Radak #2: Even though they burn and offer to idolatry, they intend for My sake.

6.

Malbim: What the nations burn and offer to the stars and Mazalos, it is because they say that they are close to the First cause and receive influence from Him. It says "Muktar Mugash li'Shmi", for they offer to those who serve Hashem.

4)

What is like a Minchah Tehorah, and why?

1.

Rashi: Yisrael's Tefilah to Hashem, for via you, My name is awesome among the nations.

2.

Radak: If I would command [the nations], they would offer a Tahor Minchah to Me - unlike you, who bring a disgraced, Tamei Minchah.

3.

Malbim: What the nations offer to the stars and Mazalos; it is not a Ba'al Mum, Tamei or disgraced. They honor everything close to My name!
