Sholem asks:

What is the problem of replanting the uprooted wheat ??? Dovor he'vod is permitted even on Chol Hamoed?

Sholem, UK

The Kollel replies:

Dear Sholem,

There are limits to Davar HaAvud. Not every loss is Halachicly Davar HaAvud. See at length Hilchos Chol HaMoed 539, especially 539:4,5.

Davar HaAvud is only when there is loss of the original principal, and here the grain will be good for next year.Losing profit is not Davar HaAvud (unless there a huge loss of one-time profit- and who says here we are talking about a large amount, maybe only one or several stalks were pulled out.

All the best,

Reuven Weiner
