What do we learn from "Nivhal la'Hon Ish Ra Ayin [v'Lo Yeda Ki Chaser Yevo'enu]"?

1.

Rashi: He hastens to increase wealth, and steals Terumos and Ma'aseros.

2.

Peninim mi'Shulchan ha'Gra (Bereishis 23:16, from Bereishis Rabah 58:7): This refers to Efron. He did not know that his name will be written deficient 1 due to [his greed].

3.

Malbim: Ra Ayin does not want to influence on others. He is frantic for wealth.

1

Now that it is written Chaser, its Gematriya is the same as Ra Ayin (Gur Aryeh Bereishis 23:16), i.e. 400 (the price he charged).

2)

What is the meaning of "Ki Chaser Yevo'enu"?

1.

Rashi: Deficiency will come to him. His work will be cursed.

2.

Malbim #1: Resha'im will come upon him and plunder his money. Even an Ish Emunah does not stand up against pressure of [lack of] bread, and all the more so commoners.

3.

Malbim #2: What he caused Aniyim to lack via his stinginess - he stored Peros [to jack up] prices to gather wealth, and via this Aniyim lacked food - this will come upon him, and they will plunder his wealth.

4.

Malbim #3: Chazal said (Kesuvos 66b) 'salt of money is Chaser' (diminishing one's money via giving to Tzedakah, this preserves it). Wealth comes only via Chisaron, and not via stinginess.
