What is "Einei Gavhus Adam"?

1.

Rashi: It is haughtiness. So is every Govah Einayim in Tanach, e.g. "Gevah Einayim u'Rchav Levav" (Tehilim 101:5).

2.

Radak: Man's pride is seen in his eyes. We find also "Einayim Ramos", "Rom Einayim" (Mishlei 6:17, 21:4).

3.

Malbim: This refers to people who are elevated due to intrinsic attributes of Chachmah or Gevurah. They will lower their eyes and humble themselves in front of Hashem.

Why does it say "Shafal"?

1.

Radak: Its grammatical form is like "Ki Chafetz b'Vas Yakov" (Bereishis 34:19). Past tense used in place of future, as if it says Yishafal. It refers to Gavhus, like "v'Shach Gavhus ha'Adam" (below, 17) or it refers to Einayim, like "v'Einei Gevohim Tishpalnah" (5:15). It applies to each of them. Sometimes Einayim is masculine - "Shiv'ah Einayim" (Zecharyah 3:9), "Einecha l'Nochach Yabitu" (Mishlei 4:25).

2.

Malbim: This refers to people whose attributes are not intrinsic, rather, by chance, e.g. of wealth or Gevurah. They will bend their stature in front of Hashem.

3)

Why does it say "v'Nisgav Hashem Levado"?

1.

Radak: This is like it says "v'Hayah Hashem l'Melech Al Kol ha'Aretz" (Zecharyah 14:9).

2.

Malbim: Elevation will be given only to Hashem.
