(Mishnah): One may not break off a piece of earthenware nor cut paper (to rest on top of a roasting fish to prevent it from getting burnt).

One may not clear out the fallen pieces of cement that collected on the floor of an oven.

One may not move two barrels next to each other in order to rest a pot on them (as it is like an act of construction).

One may not support a pot with a piece of wood nor with a door.

One may not lead an animal with a stick on Yom Tov. R. Elazar bar R. Shimon permits it.

(Gemara): (If it is prohibited to cut paper) this shows that one may not remove ground grasses (that are used as dye) from their drying mould on Yom Tov, as he is cutting the piece from the cavity. (Note: This entry follows the explanation of Rav Chaim Kanievski.)

R. Chiyah Rabah's daughter came to bake in her oven and found a piece of cement inside. She asked her father what she can do.

R. Chiyah: Go and clear it out. (Since you cannot bake without doing so, it is permitted.)

R. Chiyah's daughter: I am not able to.

R. Chiyah: Go and lay the cement down flat inside the oven.

She knew what to do but she wished to hear it from her father.

Rav: One may separate a burning rod from an oven and move it to a stove (as the stove is even hotter and he is therefore not extinguishing the fire), but not vice-versa.

Rav Aba bar Chana: One may take a burning rod from an oven to a stove and from a stove to an oven, but not from the evening to the morning.

R. Avun quoting Rav: One may take a burning rod from an oven to a stove, from a stove to an oven, from the evening to the morning but not from Yom Tov until a weekday.

The Mishnah taught: One may not move two barrels next to each other in order to rest a pot on them (as it is like an act of construction).

Beraisa: A blind man may not go out with his cane (as it is considered weekday activity) nor a shepherd with his pouch. R Shimon permits it.

As R. Shimon would say - since it is permitted to do one thing, everything is permitted.
