[44a - 49 lines; 44b - 21 lines]

1)[line 1]תגלחת טומאהTIGLACHAS TUM'AH - The shaving of a Nazir Tamei

If a Nazir becomes Tamei through contact with or being in the same room as a corpse, on the third and seventh days he must be sprinkled with water that has the ashes of the Parah Adumah in it to become Tahor. On the seventh day of his purification he shaves off the hair of his head. On the eighth day, he brings the sacrifices of a Nazir who becomes Tamei and begins counting anew the days of Nezirus that he accepted upon himself. The sacrifices he brings are two Torim (turtledoves) or two Benei Yonah (young common doves), one as a Chatas and one as an Olah. He must also bring a yearling sheep as an Asham. (These Korbanos and this shaving are in addition to the Korbanos and shaving that he, and every Nazir, brings upon the completion of his Nezirus.) (SEFER HA'CHINUCH #377)

2)[line 3]שגופו תלוי בוSHE'GUFAH TALUY BO- that is, that he is her next of kin and it is incumbent upon him to arrange for her burial (TOSFOS)

3)[line 9]בגינזקGINZAK- Gazaka, a city in the north of Media Atropatene, near the Caspian Sea

4)[line 17]לא הותר מכללוLO HUTAR MI'CHELALO- there is no exception to the general prohibition to consume that which grows on a vine. (However, there are exceptions to the general prohibitions of shaving and becoming Tamei; e.g. a Nazir who is cured from Tzara'as must shave and a Nazir who finds a Mes Mitzvah must become Tamei and bury it.)

5)[line 21]קרבןKORBAN (KORBAN NAZIR TAMEI)

See above, entry #1.

6)[line 32]"[והזיר...] והימים הראשנים יפלו כי טמא נזרו""[V'HIZIR...] VEHA'YAMIM HA'RISHONIM YIPLU, KI TAMEI NIZRO."- "[He shall dedicate to HaSh-m the days of his Nezirus and he shall bring a sheep in its first year as a Korban Asham;] and the first days shall fall aside, for his Nezirus has been contaminated." (Bamidbar 6:12)

7)[line 39]"[וכי ימות מת עליו בפתע פתאם] וטמא ראש נזרו [וגלח ראשו ביום טהרתו ביום השביעי יגלחנו]""[V'CHI YAMUS MES ALAV B'FESA PIS'OM,] V'TIMEI ROSH NIZRO; [V'GILACH ROSHO B'YOM TAHARASO, BA'YOM HA'SHEVI'I YEGALCHENU.]"- "[If a person should die near him very suddenly,] and be Metamei his Nazirite head; [he shall shave his head on the day he becomes Tahor, on the seventh day he shall shave it.]" (Bamidbar 6:9)

8)[line 42]"[כל ימי נדר נזרו] תער לא יעבר על ראשו [...קדש יהיה גדל פרע שער ראשו]""[KOL YEMEI NEDER NIZRO,] TA'AR LO YA'AVOR AL ROSHO [...KADOSH YIHEYEH, GADEL PERA SE'AR ROSHO.]"- "[All the days of the vow of his Nezirus] no razor shall come upon his head; [until the days are fulfilled, during which he separates himself for HaSh-m, he shall be holy, and shall let the hair of his head grow.]" (Bamidbar 6:5)

9)[line 1]היה מזהHAYAH MAZEH (HAZA'AS MEI CHATAS - The water containing the ashes of the Parah Adumah)

(a)MEI CHATAS - If a person (or utensil) became Tamei through touching a Mes, he must wait seven days to become Tahor. On the third and seventh days he must have spring water mixed with the ashes of the Parah Adumah (Mei Chatas) sprinkled on him. A person who is Tahor dips three Ezov branches (hyssops) that have been bound together into the mixture, and sprinkles them on the person who is Tamei. On the seventh day, he immerses in a Mikvah after the mixture is sprinkled on him in order to complete his Taharah. (Bamidbar 19:17-19)

(b)EFER CHATAS (The ashes of the Parah Adumah) - The Parah Adumah, an exclusively red-haired female cow is burned on Har ha'Zeisim and its ashes are used for making a person Tahor if he is Tamei Mes. Only a cow that has not had a yoke placed upon it and has had no other work done with it is fit to be used as a Parah Adumah. A place is prepared for its slaughter on Har ha'Zeisim, opposite the gate to the Azarah (the courtyard of the Beis ha'Mikdash). After it is slaughtered, its blood is sprinkled in the direction of the Beis ha'Mikdash seven times. A cedar branch, some Ezov branches and a piece of crimson wool are thrown into the carcass of the cow while it is burning. (Bamidbar 19:1-22)

11)[line 7]מעורב שמשME'URAV SHEMESH- a person [who was Tamei] who has waited until nightfall (lit. for whom the sun has set) after Tevilah, completing his purification

12)[line 13]"[וכי יטהר הזב מזובו וספר לו שבעת ימים לטהרתו וכבס בגדיו ורחץ בשרו במים חיים וטהר. וביום השמיני יקח לו שתי תרים או שני בני יונה] ובא לפני ה' אל פתח אהל מועד ונתנם אל הכהן"["V'CHI YIT'HAR HA'ZAV MI'ZOVO, V'SAFAR LO SHIV'AS YAMIM L'TAHARASO, V'CHIBES BEGADAV; V'RACHATZ BESARO B'MAYIM CHAYIM V'TAHER. UVA'YOM HA'SHEMINI YIKACH LO SHTEI SORIM O SHNEI BENEI YONAH;] U'VA LIFNEI HA'SH-M EL PESACH OHEL MO'ED, U'NESANAM EL HA'KOHEN"- "[And when the issue of the Zav stops to flow, he shall count seven days for his Taharah, and he shall immerse his clothes in a Mikvah; and he shall bathe his flesh in running water from a spring, and he shall become Tahor. And on the eighth day he shall take for himself two turtledoves or two young common doves,] and he shall come before HaSh-m to the opening of the Ohel Mo'ed and he shall give them to the Kohen." (Vayikra 15:13-14)

13)[line 17]טבול יוםTEVUL YOM

A Tevul Yom is a person or utensil that has been immersed in a Mikvah to become Tahor for Chulin, but is still waiting for nightfall to be completely Tahor with regard to Terumah. The level of Tum'ah of a Tevul Yom is minimal; he or it is considered only a Sheni l'Tum'ah and if he or it touches Terumah or Kodesh, the Terumah or Kodesh becomes Pasul and must be burned. Chulin that he or it touches do not become Teme'im. After the following nightfall, he or it becomes completely Tahor with regard to Terumah.

14)[line 17]זבZAV
