1)[line 12]äçìáCHELEV

(a)Chelev refers to the fat of an animal that is offered on the Mizbe'ach. It consists of the layer of fat covering the stomachs, all the other fat attached to the stomachs, and the fat on the kidneys along the flanks (Vayikra 3:4). "Shuman" refers to all the other fat of an animal that is permitted.

(b)It is forbidden to eat the Chelev of a Kosher Behemah (domesticated animal), but it may be used for any other purpose. The Chelev of a Chayah (a Kosher wild animal), however, may even be eaten.

(c)If a person eats Chelev b'Mezid (intentionally), he is Chayav Kares; b'Shogeg (unintentionally), he must bring a Korban Chatas, as in the Shogeg of all other sins that one is liable to Kares b'Mezid. The Korban Chatas is a female goat or sheep. If a person is in doubt whether the fat he ate was Chelev or Shuman, he must bring a Korban Asham Taluy (see Background to Nazir 23:2:b).

2)[line 27]áúâìçú äèäøäTIGLACHAS HA'TAHARAH - The shaving of a Nazir Tahor

(a)If a person makes a vow to become a Nazir without stipulating a time period, his or her Nezirus lasts for a period of thirty days. If the person stipulates a time period, his or her Nezirus lasts for whatever amount of time he stipulated. During this period, the Nazir is not allowed to 1. cut his hair; 2. become Tamei by touching or being in the same room as a corpse; or 3. consume any products of the grapevine.

(b)When a Nazir completes his period of Nezirus, he must offer three sacrifices: a male sheep as an Olah, a female sheep as a Chatas, and a ram as a Shelamim. Together with the Shelamim he brings 6 and 2/3 Esronos of Soles (fine flour), which are made into 20 loaves of Matzah, 10 Chalos (unleavened loaves) and 10 Rekikin (flat Matzos). He then shaves off the hair of his head and burns it under the pot in which the Zero'a of the Shelamim is cooked (Bamidbar 6:18). (SEFER HA'CHINUCH #377)

3)[line 28]áúâìçú äèåîàäTIGLACHAS HA'TUM'AH - The shaving of a Nazir Tamei

If a Nazir becomes Tamei through contact with, or being in the same room as, a corpse, on the third and seventh days he must be sprinkled with water that has the ashes of the Parah Adumah in it to become Tahor. On the seventh day of his purification he shaves off the hair of his head. On the eighth day, he brings the sacrifices of a Nazir who becomes Tamei and begins counting anew the days of Nezirus that he accepted upon himself. The sacrifices he brings are two Torim (turtledoves) or two Bnei Yonah (young common doves), one as a Chatas and one as an Olah. He must also bring a yearling sheep as an Asham. (These Korbanos and this shaving are in addition to the Korbanos and shaving that he, and every Nazir, brings upon the completion of his Nezirus.)

4)[line 29]ðéååìNIVUL- afflicted, distressed [by not being able to drink wine]

5)[line 3]àéùúçéèúISHTECHITAS- slaughtered

6)[line 6]ëáùé òöøúKIVSEI ATZERES

(a)The Torah commands to bring a Minchah offering on Shavuos called the Shtei ha'Lechem (Vayikra 23:16-17). Besides Korbenos Olah, two sheep that are Zivchei Shelamim are to be offered in conjunction with the Shtei ha'Lechem (ibid. 23:19). (These sheep were the only Shelamim brought by the Tzibur, and the only Shelamim that were Kodshei Kodashim.)

(b)If one of the four Avodos (Shechitah, Kabalas ha'Dam, Holachah, and Zerikas ha'Dam - see Background to Pesachim 59:16) of a Korban Pesach or Chatas are performed she'Lo Lishmo (not for the sake of that particular Korban), they are Pasul. All other sacrifices are Kosher and may be offered on the Mizbe'ach. This applies to the Kivsei Atzeres that are slaughtered she'Lo Lishman as well, as the Gemara states (Beitzah 20b), "its blood may be cast on the Mizbe'ach and its meat may be eaten."

(c)If Shavuos falls on Shabbos, however, the blood may not be cast on the Mizbe'ach, since this action is a Shevus, which is prohibited mid'Rabanan to be performed on Shabbos (RASHI to Yevamos 90b DH v'Kivsei Atzeres).

7)[line 12]àçú îùìùúïACHAS MI'SHELASHTAN- one of the three Korbanos which a Nazir has to bring when he completes his period of Nezirus; i.e. a male sheep as an Olah, a female sheep as a Chatas, and a ram as a Shelamim.

8)[line 17]áôàä ðëøéúPE'AH NOCHRIS- a wig made from the hair of another woman

9)[line 18]ãæåäîàD'ZUHAMA- (a) filth, filthy (TOSFOS, MEFARESH); (b) loathsome (ROSH)

10)[line 26]ìà ðäðéï åìà îåòìéïLO NEHENIN V'LO MO'ALIN- It is forbidden mid'Rabanan to derive benefit from them and if one does, he does not bring a Korban Me'ilah since money that is "destined for Yam ha'Melach," i.e. that must be destroyed, and animals that must be put to death, are not considered Kodshei HaSh-m (Me'ilah 3a)

11)[line 29]ìçíLECHEM (SHALMEI NAZIR)

When a Nazir completes his period of Nezirus, he must offer three sacrifices: a male sheep as an Olah, a female sheep as a Chatas, and a ram as a Shelamim.

12)[last line]äìëä äéà áðæéøHALACHAH HI B'NAZIR- it is a Halachah l'Moshe mi'Sinai in the Halachos of Nazir
