DAF DISCUSSIONS - KIDUSHIN 78

Donnie Appel asked:

starting from bottom of ayin zayin amud beis the gemora says if a kohen has bea with his sister, he makes her a zonah but not a chlalah, but if another kohen has bea with her he makes her a chalala, b/c now since we apply the rule that an issur chalala only applies to kehunah and a zonah is only an ossur kehunah thats why she becomes a chalala now as opposed to before. My question is: didn't we say on ayin zayin amud beis that the tanna must hold of the concept of issur moseif and what do we learn from zonah? that since she's now pasul even to a yisroel its moseif to the kohen gadol, but didnt we just say that a zonah is only an issur kehenah??

The Kollel replies:

Rashi on 77b explains that the Gemara does not mean to say that a Zonah is forbidden to Yisrael, but that the idea of Zonah is relevant to Yisrael. This is because there are times when Zenus causes a prohibition that applies to Yisrael: if a married woman willfully commits adultery, she becomes Asur to her husband (as well as to the adulterer).
