The Gemara discusses the departing of the soul from the body.

(R. Levi bar Chaisa): When taking leave of a living person one should say "Go to [your] peace"; when taking leave of a dead person he should say "Go in peace" - but not vice versa.

(R. Levi): It is a good thing to go right from the synagogue to the Beis Midrash and vice versa.

(Rav): Torah scholars can expect no rest in the Next World, for they will go from strength to strength.
