SUMMARY

1. The Gemara describes what Gavriel did in order to lessen the decree of punishment against Bnei Yisrael.
 
2. The Gemara praises the wives of Torah scholars.
 
3. The Gemara mentions how Gavriel pleaded with Hashem that He lessen the severity of the decree against Bnei Yisrael.
 
4. One may not wash even a small part of one's body on Yom Kippur.
 
5. One is permitted to go into water on Yom Kippur if he must pass through the body of water to get to his Torah teacher.

A BIT MORE

1. Gavriel took the coals of punishment in his own hands to lessen their heat, diminishing the severity of the punishment.
 
2. It praises the fact that they stay up late waiting for their husbands to come home from learning. Even though they are tired in this world, they receive much merit in the next world.
 
3. Gavriel said to Hashem, "Is it not true that if Daniel was on one side of a scale and all of the scholars of the rest of the world were on the other that Daniel would weigh more?"
 
4. However, removing dirt from one's body is permitted.
 
5. The Gemara is unsure about whether this leniency also applies to a teacher who is going to his student.
