YOMA 57 - Dedicated in honor of 8 Av 5766, the first Yahrzeit of Mrs. Lily (Leah bas Pinchas) Kornfeld, a holocaust survivor who met all of life's challenges with courage and fortitude, by her daughter Diane and family.
1. There is a dispute about whether the blood was sprinkled on the curtain or opposite the curtain.
2. Rebbi Elazar said that he saw the blood stains of the Par He'elem Davar in Rome on the curtain taken from the Beis ha'Mikdash.
3. The Gemara says that if the cups of blood from the goat and bull became mixed, then the Kohen Gadol should sprinkle "one and seven" three times.
4. The Gemara discusses the law of blood of a single Chatas offering that was accepted in multiple cups.
5. There is a dispute about multiple cups of blood from a Chatas when the sprinkling was performed from only one cup.
A BIT MORE
1. Tana Kama: The blood never reached the curtain. Rather, it was sprinkled opposite the curtain. Rebbi Elazar b'Rebbi Yosi: I was in Rome and I saw it; the curtain had blood stains from the bull and the goat of Yom Kippur.
2. The Gemara clarifies that he still could be certain that he saw blood stains from the bull and goat of Yom Kippur as well, since each had distinct patterns (the Yom Kippur offerings were "one and seven").
3. Since they each require "one and seven," one might have thought that two times would suffice, one series from each vessel. However, since there is a law that the blood of the bull must be sprinkled before the blood of the goat, the sprinklings must be done three times. (By sprinkling the first series from the first vessel, the second series from the second vessel, and then the third series again from the first vessel, it is assured that the proper order is achieved.)
4. Everyone agrees that if blood was accepted in four different cups and one (mandated) sprinkle was done from each, that all of the rest of the blood is considered leftover blood of a Korban that must be spilled onto the Yesod of the Mizbe'ach.
5. Tana Kama: The cups from which no sprinkling was done on the Mizbe'ach are spilled into the stream that led out of the Beis ha'Mikdash. Rebbi Eliezer: They are also spilled onto the Yesod.
