1. The Kohen Gadol performed many of the public services in the Beis ha'Mikdash during the seven days before Yom Kippur.
2. During the year, the Kohen Gadol had the right to perform any public service at any time.
3. The Mishnah discusses cases in which one erred in the sprinkling of the Mei Chatas of the Parah Adumah.
4. The Gemara discusses at length the order of the Avodah performed in the Beis ha'Mikdash.
5. The Gemara explains that the exact order (see #4 above) is a matter of dispute among Tana'im.


1. This was done in order to prepare him for performing all of the services on Yom Kippur.
2. The Kohen Gadol was entitled to perform any service that he chose to do, even though there was a weekly rotation of Mishmaros, and a daily rotation of Batei Avos within each Mishmar, for performing the service. Similarly, he was entitled to take the choicest portion of any public Korban that is consumed by the Kohanim.
3. If one intended to sprinkle the Mei Chatas on an animal (a live animal cannot become Tamei) and instead sprinkled on a person, he may sprinkle the remaining the drops on the hyssop branch on a person. If he intended to sprinkle on one person and instead sprinkled on a different person, he may not sprinkle the remaining drops on the hyssop branch on a person.
4. For example, the Mishnah lists the offering of the Ketores before the arranging of the candles of the Menorah. However, the Mishnah in Tamid implies that the candles of the Menorah were set up before the offering of the Ketores.
5. For example, Rebbi Yochanan says that the Mishnah in Yoma was taught by a Tana named Rebbi Shimon Ish ha'Mitzpah, and this is his understanding of the order of the Avodah.
