SUMMARY

1. One may compensate for Korbanos that he did not bring on Sukos by bringing them on Shemini Atzeres.

2. There is a dispute about whether a Korban brought by Aharon, and the Chatzotzeros made by Moshe, were paid for from their own money.

3. Everyone agrees that the verse, "They will take to you," means that the public will purchase it.

4. The Gemara explains why the verse alternates between singular and plural form when it refers to the making of the Aron.

5. The Gemara mentions another Korban that is offered by the Kohen Gadol and purchased with his own money.

A BIT MORE

1. This is despite the fact that Shemini Atzeres is considered independent from Sukos in a number of ways.

2. The verses say, "Take for yourself" (Aharon's Korban at the Milu'im), and, "Make for yourself" (regarding the Chatzotzeros blown in the desert). One opinion is that "for yourself" means that you should use your own money to acquire them, and one opinion is that it was paid for by the public.

3. This refers to the olive oil, used for the lighting of the Menorah, that was brought to Moshe Rabeinu.

4. When Hashem is pleased with Bnei Yisrael, He ascribes the making of the Aron to all of them. When Bnei Yisrael are not doing the will of Hashem, He ascribes the making of the Aron to Moshe Rabeinu (i.e., only the righteous minority in the generation).

5. The Korban Chatas that a Kohen Gadol offers for himself and his family is purchased from his own money. This is evident from the words in the verse, "... that is his."
