SUMMARY

1. The Ezras Nashim was 135 square Amos.
 
2. The Mishnah discusses the four chambers that were in the Ezras Nashim.
 
3. Kohanim with blemishes were entrusted with checking the wood for worms in the Lishkas ha'Etzim.
 
4. The Ezras Nashim originally had no balcony, but one was eventually installed.
 
5. Fifteen steps led from the Ezras Nashim up to the Ezras Yisrael.

A BIT MORE

1. It had four roofless chambers in its four corners, each of them having an area of forty square cubits. The Mishnah states that they will also be present in the Third Temple.
 
2. In the southeastern corner was the Lishkas ha'Nezirim, in the northeastern corner was the Lishkas ha'Etzim, in the northwestern corner was the Lishkas ha'Metzora'im, and in the southwestern corner was the Lishkas Beis Shemanya (storage for wine and oil).
 
3. If a piece of wood was found to have a worm, it was deemed unfit to be used on the Mizbe'ach.
 
4. When the Chachamim observed that there was lightheadedness between men and women during the Simchas Beis ha'Sho'evah, they had the balcony for the women built in order to ensure that there would be no lightheadedness.
 
5. These steps corresponded to the fifteen Shir ha'Ma'alos in Tehilim. Some say that the Shir ha'Ma'alos were sung on these steps during the Simchas Beis ha'Sho'evah.
