SUMMARY

1. A rat fell into vinegar. Rav Kehana prohibited the vinegar.

2. Terumah is Batel only in a mixture of 101.

3. All prohibitions of the Torah are Batel in 60.

4. If a Nochri helps a Yisrael transport his sealed barrels of wine, and the Yisrael distances himself from the Nochri, the wine is permitted as long as the Yisrael did not inform the Nochri about his coming and going.

5. If the Yisrael notified the Nochri that he would be distancing himself, if he is gone long enough for the Nochri to puncture the lid and seal it again, and there is sufficient time for the seal to dry, the wine is prohibited, according to the Tana Kama.

6. Raban Shimon ben Gamliel says that the wine is prohibited only if there is sufficient time for the Nochri to remove the lid, make a new lid and re-seal it, and there is enough time for the seal to dry.

7. A Yisrael left his wine on a wagon or a boat, with a Nochri, and he went to town to the bathhouse. If he did not notify the Nochri that he was leaving, the wine is permitted.

8. If a Yisrael leaves his wine in his store with a Nochri, the wine is permitted even though the Yisrael frequently comes in and out.

9. If a Yisrael was Metaher his workers in order for them to transport his Taharos for him, his Taharos remain b'Chezkas Tahor even if he goes away the distance of a Mil.

10. If one notifies his workers that they should continue traveling and he will follow behind them, as soon as the workers are out of his sight his Taharos are no longer b'Chezkas Tahor.

11. Rebbi Yochanan says that the disagreement between the Rabanan and Raban Shimon ben Gamliel applies only when the lid of the barrel of wine is made of lime. If the lid is made of clay, the Rabanan agree that there is no concern that the Nochri will puncture the lid.

12. A Yisrael eats together with a Nochri at his table. There are jugs of wine on the table and on the counter. The wine on the table is prohibited. The wine on the counter is permitted.

A BIT MORE

1. The rat did not completely dissolve in the vinegar. The minimum Shiur for a Sheretz is the size of a lentil. There is a concern that when one drinks the vinegar, one will swallow a piece of the rat the size of a lentil.

2. However, spices of Terumah are not Batel even in a 101, because they give taste to the mixture.

3. However, if a prohibited item falls into something with the same taste, it is prohibited even if the amout of the permitted item is more than 60 times the amount of the prohibited item.

4. Since the Yisrael did not notify him that he was distancing himself, the Nochri is afraid to break open he barrels out of fear that the Yisrael will return via a short cut and make a sudden appearance. Therefore, even if he distanced himself for a Mil, the wine is permitted.

5. Since the Yisrael notified him that he was leaving, the Nochri feels free to puncture the lid and then re-seal it.

6. Raban Shimon ben Gamliel maintains that there is no concern that the Nochri will puncture the lid, because it will be discernible. The only concern is that he will replace the lid entirely.

7. If the Yisrael notified the Nochri that he was leaving, the status of the wine depends on the dispute between the Tana Kama and Raban Shimon ben Gamliel.

8. If the Yisrael notified the Nochri that he was leaving, the status of the wine depends on the dispute between the Tana Kama and Raban Shimon ben Gamliel.

9, The workers are afraid to allow their Tamei friends to touch the Taharos because of the concern that the Yisrael will return via a short cut and make a sudden appearance.

10. Since he told them to go ahead, they will not be concerned that he will make a sudden appearance. They will allow their Tamei friends to touch the Taharos.

11. Lime is white and therefore less noticeable when it is punctured. Clay is dark until it eventually whitens. Since the sealing clay is darker than the rest of the lid, any puncture is noticeable. Therefore, the Rabanan agree that unless the Nochri has sufficient time to make a new lid, the wine is permitted.

12. However, if the Nochri is told to pour or drink the wine, even the wine on the counter is prohibited. Since the Nochri was encouraged to drink, he will feel free to touch even the wine on the counter.
