NAZIR 60

Ask A
Question

SUMMARY

If a person is a Nazir for 100 days and he is Safek Tamei Mes and Safek Metzora Muchlat he may eat Kodshim after 2 years and drink wine after 4 years.

A Nazir who is a Safek Tamei Mes and Safek Metzora must shave four times.

The first time he shaves he should bring birds and a Chatas ha'Of and an Olas Beheimah. (1)

The second and third times he shaves he should bring a Chatas ha'Of and an Olas Beheimah. (2)

The fourth time he shaves he should bring his Korbanos Taharah.

A Chatas ha'Of that is brought mi'Safek is buried.

Rebbi Shimon says that a person who is Chayav an Asham mi'Safek may bring an Asham on condition that if he is not Chayav an Asham it shall be a Shelamim. (3)

If a Nazir is Safek Tamei and definitely a Metzora Muchlat he may eat Kodshim on the eighth day and drink wine after 67 days. (4)

If a Nazir is Safek Muchlat and a certain Tamei Mes he may eat Kodshim after 37 days and drink wine after 74 days. (5)

If a Nazir is a Metzora Muchlat and Tamei Mes he may eat Kodshim on the eighth day and drink wine after 44 days. (6)

A Nazir who is a Metzora must shave separately for his Tzara'as and for his Nezirus.

A BIT MORE

1. He must bring the birds because of the possibility that he is a Metzora and a Chatas ha'Of because of the possibility that he is a Nazir Tamei and an Olah because he may be a Nazir Tahor.

2. The second time he shaves the Chatas ha'Of is brought for the Safek that he is a Metzora and the Olah is brought because maybe he was not a Metzora but he was a Nazir Tamei and now he is a Nazir Tahor. The third time he shaves the Chatas ha'Of is brought for the Safek that he maybe was a Metzora and now he is a Nazir Tamei and the Olah is brought because maybe he was a Metzora but he was not Tamei Mes and now he is a Nazir Tahor.

3. Even though a Shelamim may be eaten for two days and an Asham may only be eaten for one day and when he brings the Korban on condition he may only eat it for one day.

4. He shall shave on the first day of his Nezirus for his Tzara'as and then sit outside the Machaneh for seven days and shave on the seventh day and bring the Korbanos of a Metzora on the eighth day and on that day he is permitted to eat Kodshim. He may not shave again for thirty days because he might be a Nazir Tahor and after thirty days he shall bring a Chatas ha'Of and an Olah and he must count another thirty days because he may have been Tamei and he shall bring his Korbanos on day 68 and he may drink wine on that day.

5. He shall shave on the seventh day but he may not shave again until day 38 because maybe he is not a Metzora and he is now in the midst of his Nezirus Taharah. After seven days he should shave again because maybe he was a Metzora and now he must shave for his Tum'ah, and then he should count another thirty days for his Nezirus and he shaves for the last time on day 75.

6. He shall shave on the first day of his Nezirus for his Tzara'as and then sit outside the Machaneh for seven days and shave on the seventh day and bring the Korbanos of a Metzora on the eighth day and on that day he is permitted to eat Kodshim. He shaves again on day 14 for his Tum'ah and bring his Korbanos on the eighth day and on that day he starts counting the thirty days of his Nezirus and on day 45 he brings his Korbanos Taharah and he may drink wine.

BRIEF INSIGHT

KORBANOS NEZIRUS

A Nazir who is a Safek Tamei Mes and Safek Metzora shall shave four times, and the first time he shaves he should bring birds and a Chatas ha'Of and an Olah. Tosfos says that although a Nazir Tamei must also bring an Olas ha'Of and a Nazir Tahor must bring a Shelamim since these Korbanos are not Me'akev the Rabanan do not obligate him to bring them mi'Safek.

QUICK HALACHAH

A METZORA AND A NAZIR

One shaving is not sufficient for both Nezirus and Tzara'as. The shaving of a Metzora Safek does not supersede the Mitzvah of Nezirus. (Rambam Hilchos Nezirus 10:1)

The shaving of a Metzora and of a Nazir are separate Mitzvos and even if a person is both a Metzora and a Nazir at the same time one shaving is not sufficient because the shaving of a Metzora is for the purpose of growing the hair and the shaving of a Nazir is for the purpose of removing the hair.
