DAF DISCUSSIONS - CHULIN 108

Ronen asked:

What's the significance of "mayim tzlulim" which Tosfos mentions? Is it that water can't be Bolaiah due to the fact that it is transparent thereby making the issur item Nikar?

Thank You!

Ronen, Queens, NY

The Kollel replies:

Tosfos says that even if there is a rule that what is busy absorbing cannot pour out, this can't apply to "clear" water which can't absorb - because it is by nature "thin" and can't contain something foreign. At best it can have something else mix with it from the outside but it doesn't penetrate into the water. So we cannot say that since it's busy absorbing - because it's not absorbing - and therefore it could at the same time be Poleit back!

All the best,
