I like this question very much! I can offer different Chilukim, such as that the Gemara in Nedarim is saying it is only a Bizayon, but it is not enough to be considered Boshes. But I have to admit that the Bach (Teshuvos, Yeshanos 109) agrees with you and brings a proof from the Gemara in Nedarim that if someone spits at a Talmid Chacham, he will pay a Kenas, so you were Zocheh to be Mechaven to a great mind!
