(1) This is also the opinion of the Amora'im Rabah and Rav Hamnuna. However, in a case of an Esrog that blossomed (Chanatah) in the sixth year of the Shemitah cycle and was not picked until the seventh, Rabah maintains that the Esrog is *Patur* from Ma'aser, even though it is a Shishis fruit, because everyone feels free to handle it, thinking that it is grew during Shevi'is (and thus the fruit gets a status of Hefker and Hefker is Patur from Ma'aser).
