2. There are severe sinners who go to Gehinom forever.

3. The Gemara explains the category of people "who have sinned with their bodies."

A BIT MORE

1. Such people are judged to go to Gehinom for twelve months, after which their bodies are destroyed, their souls are burned and the ashes are scattered under the feet of the righteous.

2. They include (for example) heretics, people who do not believe in Hashem, and people who constantly cause others to sin.

3. For Jews, this includes a man who never put on Tefilin. For Nochrim (and Jews), this includes people who have illicit relations.

4. If he does so, he will not have a son who is a Torah scholar.

5. This does not mean that Hashem overlooks a person's sins. Rather, it means that Hashem does not exact strict punishment for one's sins.
