1. The Gemara discusses the source of the law that one must blow Shofar during the day on Rosh Hashanah, and not at night.
2. The Gemara explains Rebbi Avahu's institution of a "Teki'ah, Shevarim, Teru'ah, Teki'ah."
3. The Gemara further clarifies Rebbi Avahu's ruling.
4. The special blessings recited during Musaf of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur must all be said, and saying only part of them is not effective.

A BIT MORE
1. One opinion says that this is derived from the verse, "Yom Teru'ah." Another opinion says that this is derived from the verse, "ba'Yom ha'Kipurim [Ta'aviru Shofar]." Just as the Shofar sounded on the Yom Kippur of the Yovel year must be during the day, the Shofar of Rosh Hashanah must be sounded during the day.
2. Rebbi Avahu was unsure about whether the Teru'ah mentioned in the Torah is comprised of three medium blasts or nine short blasts. He therefore instituted that both should be blown.
3. The Gemara explains that Rebbi Avahu was unsure not only about whether a Teru'ah is comprised of three medium blasts or nine short blasts, but also whether it was a combination of first medium and then short blasts. He therefore instituted that all three types of blasts should be blown, for a total of thirty sounds. Each blast must be blown three times, and it must have a Teki'ah before and after it.
4. For example, there is no point in saying only Malchiyos and Zichronos if one is not going to say Shofaros, as one does not fulfill Malchiyos and Zichronos if he omits Shofaros (or if he omits Malchiyos or Zichronos and recites the other two blessings).
5. If he blows only a Teki'ah but not a Shevarim or Teru'ah, he certainly has not fulfilled the Mitzvah of Shofar. However, if he only knows how to blow a Teki'ah plus either a Shevarim or Teru'ah, he should blow that set of sounds (with a Teki'ah afterwards) as much as he is required to, as it is possible that this fulfills the Torah commandment of Shofar.
