SUMMARY

1. The Gemara lists the parts of the Mizbe'ach that must be in place in order for it to be valid.

2. Rebbi Yochanan: The area to which the water and wine flowed down was created at the six days of Creation.

3. The Gemara cites three opportunities to perform acts of kindness other than charity.

4. A religious person whom people favor is a G-d-fearing person.

5. The Gemara defines the verse, "v'Toras Chesed."

A BIT MORE

1. The Mizbe'ach must have a ramp, corners, foundation, and it must be square. Rebbi Yosi bar Yehudah says that it also must have a Sovev.

2. These holes descend far into the depths of the earth.

3. Acts of kindness may be done with or without money, for the poor and the wealthy, and both for those who are alive and those who are dead.

4. This is derived from the verse, "And the kindness of Hashem is forever on those who fear Him."

5. One opinion is that Toras Chesed refers to Torah that is learned for the sake of the Mitzvah without ulterior motives. Another opinion is that Torah that is learned in order to teach it is considered Toras Chesed.
