SUMMARY

1. One designated an animal for a Korban Todah as a Nedavah, and it became lost. He designated another Todah in its place, and subsequently the lost Todah was found. Both are offered with bread.

2. The offspring of a Todah, which is brought as a Nedavah, is brought on the Mizbe'ach without bread, because it is akin to money which was leftover from the purchase of a Korban Todah.

3. According to Rebbi Yochanan, the offspring of a Todah, which is brought as a Chovah, is brought on the Mizbe'ach with bread, if it is brought before the Korban Todah, because it is akin to the appreciation of Hekdesh. Shmuel disagrees.

4. One designated an animal for a Korban Todah, and it became lost. He designated a replacement, and subsequently the lost Todah was found. He may choose to bring either one of them with the breads of a Todah.

5. One designated an animal for a Chatas, and it became lost. He designated a replacement, and subsequently the lost Chatas was found. He may choose to bring either one of them. The one he does not bring is left to die, according to Rebbi.

6. According to the Chachamim, the second Chatas is left to die only if it was found after the replacement was brought on the Mizbe'ach.

7. Rebbi agrees with the Chachamim that if one designates two Chata'os so that one will be for a reserve, one of them is brought and the second one is sent out to pasture. However, according to Rebbi Shimon, even in this case the second one is left to die.

8. If one designates an animal together with bread and says, "This is for my Todah and this is for my bread," if the bread is lost a replacement may be brought, but if the animal is lost a replacement may not be brought.

9. If one designates money for his Todah, he should buy bread for the Todah with any leftover money. If he designated money for the bread, he may not buy an animal for the Todah with any leftover money.

10. One designated an animal for a Korban Todah, and it became lost. He designated a replacement, and it, too, became lost. He designated a third replacement, and subsequently the lost animals were found. If the original Korban is brought first, the first replacement is brought without bread, while the second replacement is brought with bread, according to Rava. Abaye disagrees.

11. One designated an animal for a Korban Chatas, and it became lost. He designated a replacement, and it, too, became lost. He designated a third replacement, and subsequently the lost animals were found. If the original Korban is brought first, the first replacement is left to die, while the second replacement is sent out to pasture, according to Rava. Abaye disagrees.

12. A person designates a Korban Todah for a Nedavah. He designates another animal as a Temurah for the first. The Todah and the Temurah become mixed up, and one of them dies. The surviving animal may not be brought.

13. A person designates a Korban Todah for a Neder. He designates another animal as a Temurah for the first. The Todah and the Temurah get mixed up, and one of them dies. He must designate a second animal for a Todah along with bread, and bring the surviving animal along with the second animal conditionally.

A BIT MORE

1. If a Korban Nedavah becomes lost, one is not obligated to designate a replacement. Since he designated a replacement anyway, it is apparent that he planned to bring more than one Todah. Since they are both Korbenos Todah, both must be offered with bread.

2. Whether the offspring is brought before or after the Korban Todah, it is brought without bread, because when a Korban is brought from the leftover money which was used for the purchase of a Todah, it is brought without bread.

3. According to Rebbi Yochanan, a person achieves atonement upon bringing the appreciation of Hekdesh. Therefore, if the offspring is brought before the Korban Todah is brought, he fulfills his Neder with it, and it thus is brought with bread.

4. The second animal is then brought without bread.

5. Five types of Chata'os Pesulos are left to die. One of them is a Chatas which was not offered because the owner achieved atonement with a different Korban.

6. If the first animal is found before the replacement is brought, the replacement is sent out to pasture until it develops a Mum and then it is redeemed.

7. If one designates two animals for a Korban Todah, so that one will serve as a reserve in case the first is not brought, the first one that is brought is brought with bread, and the second one is brought without bread.

8. The bread is secondary to the Todah. Therefore, a replacement for the bread may be matched with the animal, but if the animal is lost a replacement for the animal may not be brought for the purpose of matching it with the bread.

9. The bread of a Todah is also called a Todah. Therefore, money which was designated for the Korban Todah may be used for the bread. However, the Todah is not called bread, and therefore money which was designated for the bread may not be used to buy the Korban Todah.

10. However, if the second replacement is brought first, the original Korban Todah is brought without bread, while the first replacement is brought with bread. If the first replacement is brought first, the other two are brought without bread, according to Rava. According to Abaye, regardless of which one of them is brought first, the remaining two are brought without bread.

11. However, if the second replacement is brought first, the first replacement is left to die, while the original Korban Chatas is sent out to pasture. If the second replacement is brought first, the other two are left to die, according to Rava. According to Abaye, regardless of which one of them is brought first, the remaining two are left to die.

12. It may not be brought because it is not known whether it is the original Todah and must be brought with bread, or whether it is the Temurah and may not be brought with bread.

13. He must declare that if the surviving animal is the Temurah, then the second animal shall be for his Todah and the bread is for that Korban, but if the surviving animal is the Todah, then the bread shall be for the Todah, and the second animal is designated as a replacement for it if it gets lost. Both animals must be brought.
