MENACHOS 74 (18 Iyar, Lag b'Omer) - Dedicated by Avi and Lily Berger of Queens, N.Y., in memory of Lily's father, Mr. Benny Krieger (Chananel Benayahu ben Harav Yisrael Avraham Aba), Zt"l, who passed away eight years ago on Lag ba'Omer 5763. Mr. Krieger exemplified Ahavas Chesed, Ahavas Torah and Ahavas Eretz Yisrael.

SUMMARY

1. Rebbi Shimon says that a Kemitzah is separated from the Minchas Chotei of a Kohen. The Kometz and the Shirayim are placed separately on the Mizbe'ach. Rebbi Eliezer b'Rebbi Shimon says that the Shirayim are scattered on the Beis ha'Deshen.

2. A Kohen may bring his own Korban even when it is not the time for his Mishmar to perform the Avodah in the Beis ha'Mikdash.

3. A Kohen may bring his own Korban, even if it is brought for an Aveirah which he committed b'Mezid, and even when it is not the time for his Mishmar to perform the Avodah in the Beis ha'Mikdash.

4. If a Kohen eats the Eimurim of a Korban, he transgresses two Lavin.

5. Minchos Kohanim, Minchos Kohen Mashi'ach, and Minchos Nesachim are completely consumed on the Mizbe'ach.

6. Shmuel says that one who brings wine as a Nedavah must sprinkle it on the fire on the Mizbe'ach. However, the Tana of the Mishnah disagrees.

7. Shmuel says that one who offers oil as a Nedavah must take a Kemitzah from it and consume it on the Mizbe'ach, and the Shirayim are eaten.

8. The Shtei ha'Lechem and the Lechem ha'Panim are completely eaten by the Kohanim, and nothing is placed on the Mizbe'ach.

9. All Menachos made in a Kli require three Matanos of oil: one before the flour is place in the Kli, one after, and oil is poured in again for the Mitzvah of Yetzikah.

10. The Chalos of a Minchas Machavas and Minchas Marcheshes are mixed together with oil after it is baked, according to Rebbi. The Chachamim disagree.

A BIT MORE

1. Although a Kemitzah is not separated from other Minchos Kohanim, a Minchas Chotei is an exception, according to Rebbi Shimon and Rebbi Elazar b'Rebbi Shimon. However, according to the Rabanan, a Minchas Chotei is no different from other Minchos Kohanim and no Kemitzah is separated.

2. A Kohen may bring his own Korban Chatas even if it is not the time for his Mishmar to perform the Avodah in the Beis ha'Mikdash.

3. A Kohen brings a Korban Oleh v'Yored for the sin of Shevu'as ha'Edus. This Korban is brought even for an intentional transgression.

4. He transgresses the prohibition of a non-Kohen eating Kodshim, since a Kohen is the same as a non-Kohen with regard to Eimurim. He also transgresses the prohibition of Kalil, which applies to Korbanos and not just to Menachos.

5. An Olah is completely consumed on the Mizbe'ach, except for the hide which is given to the Kohanim. An Olas ha'Of is completely consumed on the Mizbe'ach, except for the crop and feathers which are placed next to the Mizbe'ach.

6. The Tana of the Mishnah does not include a Nedavah of wine in its list of items completely consumed on the Mizbe'ach, because the Tana maintains that the wine is poured into the Shisin and is not sprinkled on the fire.

7. The Tana of the Mishnah supports this statement of Shmuel. The Mishnah does not include a Nedavah of oil in its list of items completely consumed on the Mizbe'ach.

8. A Chatas ha'Of is completely eaten by the Kohanim, but the blood is placed on the Mizbe'ach. The Log Shemen of a Metzora is eaten by the Kohanim but part of it is sprinkled on the Paroches.

9. However, a Minchas Ma'afeh does not require Yetzikah.

10. According to the Chachamim, oil is mixed with the Minchah while it is still flour.
