SUMMARY

1. If Bikurim are brought from produce which grew on the roof of a cave, or in a cultivated desolate field, the Parshah of Bikurim is read.

2. There is a disagreement about whether the Parshah of Bikurim is read for Bikurim which is brought from produce which grew in a perforated pot or on an earthenware boat.

3. The Minchas ha'Omer and the Shtei ha'Lechem may not be brought from grain which grew in a field which needs to be fertilized or watered, or from grain which grew in an orchard. However, b'Di'eved it is valid.

4. The field from which the grain of the Minchas ha'Omer is brought is plowed, and half of the field is planted, and the following year it is plowed again and the other half is planted, seventy days prior to Pesach.

5. The grain for the Minchas ha'Omer is harvested from a field in the south, close to Yerushalayim, and which was plowed for the purpose of using the grain for the Minchah.

6. The flour for the Minchas ha'Omer is brought to the treasurer of Hekdesh. If flour dust comes up in his hand when he places his hand into it, this shows that it has not been sifted sufficiently.

7. If the majority of wheat or flour became wormy, it may not be used for the Minchas ha'Omer.

8. If a worm was found in a log, it is Pasul for the Mizbe'ach.

9. If one is Makdish wormy flour or a wormy log for a Minchah or for the Mizbe'ach, there is a doubt about whether he is Chayav Malkus.

10. Olive oil for Menachos may be brought from olives which grew anywhere in Eretz Yisrael. However, l'Chatchilah it should be brought from olives from Teko'a.

11. The olive oil for Menachos may not be brought from olives which grew in a field that needs to be fertilized or watered, or from an orchard where the area between the trees was planted. However, b'Di'eved it is valid.

A BIT MORE

1. However, if Bikurim is brought from produce which grew on the roof of a house, or in an uncultivated desolate field, the Parshah of Bikurim is not read.

2. However, everyone agrees that the Parshah of Bikurim is not read for Bikurim brought from produce which grew in a non-perforated pot or on a wooden boat.

3. There is a concern that if the field needs to be fertilized or watered, perhaps it was not fertilized or watered sufficiently. If the grain grew in an orchard, the shade of the trees block the sun, and the roots of the trees sap the ground of its nutrients, and the grain that grows there is of inferior quality.

4. The planting of the grain is delayed until close to Pesach when the sun is strongest, in order to ensure a high quality crop of grain for the Minchas ha'Omer.

5. The produce which grows close to Yerushalayim is superior, because it is a mountainous region. Also, produce which grows in the south is superior because the sun travels along the southern side of the sky for most of the day in the winter.

6. According to the Tana of the Mishnah, if the flour contains flour dust, the treasurer of Hekdesh instructs them to sift it again. Rebbi Nasan says that the treasurer rubs his hand with oil and places it into the flour in order to remove all of the flour dust.

7. There is a doubt about whether the grain is Pasul only if the majority of each kernel is wormy, or whether it is Pasul if the majority of the Se'ah of grain is wormy, even if some of the kernels are not wormy at all.

8. However, it is Pasul only if the log is damp. If the log is dry, the wormy part may be cut off, and the log becomes fir for the Mizbe'ach.

9. One who is Makdish an animal which is a Ba'al Mum for the Mizbe'ach transgresses five Lavim. The doubt is whether this also applies to flour and to wood, or whether the concept of a Ba'al Mum applies only to animals.

10. The best olive oil is from Teko'a. Aba Shaul says that the second best olive oil was from Regev, on the other side of the Yarden.

11. If the area between the trees was planted, it weakens the trees, and consequently the olive oil which is produced from the trees is inferior.
