MENACHOS 67 (7 Cheshvan) - we honor ha'Gaon Rav Meir Shapiro,
creator of the Dafyomi study cycle. (See here for more.)

SUMMARY

1. If one was Makdish his dough and redeemed it before it was rolled in water, or if he was Makdish it after it was rolled in water, it is Chayav in Chalah.

2. If one was Makdish his dough before it was rolled in water, and he redeemed it after it was rolled in water, it is exempt from Chalah.

3. If a Nochri rolled his dough in water before he became a Ger, it is exempt from Chalah., If he rolled it in water after he became a Ger, it is Chayav in Chalah. If there is a doubt about when he rolled his dough in water, it is Chayav in Chalah.

4. Rava says that according to Rebbi Meir and Rebbi Yehudah, the grain of a Nochri is Chayav in Ma'aser. Similarly, the dough of a Nochri is Chayav in Chalah.

5. If a Nochri designated a lamb for his Peter Chamor, or he separated Chalah from his dough, or he designated Terumah in Chutz la'Aretz, we make him aware that he is exempt from these Mitzvos.

6. If the Nochri designated fruit as Terumah in Eretz Yisrael, it is forbidden to non-Kohanim.

7. If grain is brought into the house before it is threshed, or it is brought through the courtyard, it may be fed to animals before Terumah and Ma'aseros are separated.

8. Oil is placed in a utensil, and then the Isaron of barley flour for the Minchas ha'Omer is placed in the utensil, and more oil is added. It is mixed, and the Tenufah and Hagashah are performed.

9. Immediately after the Minchas ha'Omer was offered, flour and toasted wheat from the new crop of grain could be found in the markets of Yerushalayim, to the displeasure of the Chachamim. Rebbi Yehudah says the Chachamim were not displeased.

10. If one failed to search for Chametz on the night of the fourteenth day of Nisan, he must search in the morning, or at the time of the burning of the Chametz in the sixth hour of the day, but not later than that, according to Rebbi Yehudah.

11. According to the Rabanan, if one failed to search for Chametz on Erev Pesach, he must search for Chametz during Yom Tov.

A BIT MORE

1. Dough becomes Chayav in Chalah at the time that it is rolled in dough. Therefore, even though dough of Hekdesh is exempt from Chalah since the dough was in the possession of a Hedyot at the time it was rolled in water, it is Chayav in Chalah.

2. The dough of Hekdesh is exempt from Chalah. Since the dough was in the possession of Hekdesh at the time it was rolled in water, it is exempt from Chalah.

3. This Halachah is in accordance with the opinion that the dough of a Nochri is exempt from Chalah. However, if there is a doubt, it is Chayav in Chalah because it is a Safek d'Oraisa.

4. Consequently, even if the dough of a Nochri was rolled in water before he became a Ger, it is Chayav in Chalah.

5. Since the Nochri is exempt, his designation is meaningless. The lamb may be sheared and worked with, and the Chalah and Terumah may be eaten by anyone.

6 According to the Rebbi Yosi and Rebbi Shimon, the grain of a Nochri is exempt from Terumah. Nevertheless, the Rabanan decreed that Terumah and Ma'aseros be separated from the grain of a Nochri because of the concern that rich people will conclude that even grain bought from a Yisrael is exempt from Terumah and Ma'aseros.

7. Grain is not Chayav in Ma'aseros Min ha'Torah until it is brought through the front entrance of the house after being threshed. However, the Rabanan decreed that before that time, it may be eaten only in a transient manner. Feeding it to animals is also permitted.

8. After the Hagashah, the Kohen performs the Kemitzah and he burns the Kometz on the Mizbe'ach. The remainder is eaten by the Kohanim.

9. According to the Tana Kama, the Chachamim were displeased that the new crop was made into flour before the Minchas ha'Omer was brought, because of the concern that it might be eaten (which is forbidden until the Omer is brought). Rebbi Yehudah was not concerned that it would be eaten.

10. According to Rebbi Yehudah, it is forbidden to search for Chametz after the sixth hour of Erev Pesach because of the concern that one might eat the Chametz that he finds.

11. The Rabanan are not concerned that one will eat the Chametz that he finds, and therefore if one did not search for Chametz earlier he must search for Chametz on the Yom Tov of Pesach itself.
