SUMMARY

1. There is a Chiyuv Me'ilah for an Asham slaughtered in the south of the Azarah, l'Shem Kodshim Kalim.
 
2. There is no Chiyuv Me'ilah for an Olas ha'Of that was brought like a Chatas ha'Of on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach, according to Rebbi Yehoshua.
 
3. Rav Ashi says that if a Chatas ha'Of was brought on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach, even according to Rebbi Yehoshua it does not become an Olas ha'Of, and it is Pasul.
 
4. Rachel is obligated to bring a Chatas ha'Of. Leah is obligated to bring an Olas ha'Of. They bring a Kan (two birds) together. They designate one bird as a Chatas for Rachel, and the other bird as an Olah for Leah. If the Kohen brings both birds on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach, only the Olah is valid.
 
5. If the Kohen brought one bird on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach and another bird on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach, both are Pasul. There is a possibility that the Kohen brought the Olah on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach and the Chatas on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach.
 
6. Rachel is obligated to bring a Chatas ha'Of and one Kan, and Leah is obligated to bring an Olas ha'Of and one Kan. Together they bring three Kanim. They designate one bird of one Kan as a Chatas for Rachel, and one bird of that Kan as an Olah for Leah. Of the second Kan, they designate one bird as a Chatas and one bird as an Olah, without specifying for whom. The birds of the third Kan are left Stam, unspecified. If the Kohen brings all of them on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach, half of them are Pasul.
 
7. If the Kohen brought half of the birds on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach and half on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach, only the Kan left Stam is valid.
 
8. A woman makes a Neder that she will bring a Kan if she gives birth to a boy. When she gives birth to a boy she must bring two Kanim. Three of the four birds are Olos.
 
9. If the Kohen brought half of the birds on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach and half on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach, if all of the birds are Torim or all are Bnei Yonah, the woman must bring one of the same type of birds as an Olah.
 
10. If the birds of one of the Kanim were Torim, and the birds of the other Kan were Bnei Yonah, and it is not known which Kan the Kohen brought first, the woman must bring one Tor and one Ben Yonah as an Olah.
 
11. A woman made a Neder that she will bring a Kan of a specific type of bird when she gives birth. When she gave birth, she forgot what type of bird she had specified in her Neder. If the Kohen brought half on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach and half on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach, if all of the birds were the same type, she must bring three more birds as an Olah. If the birds were different types and it is not known which one the Kohen brought first, she must bring four birds as an Olah.

A BIT MORE

1. Since an Asham brought in the south of the Azarah is Pasul, the flesh does not become permitted to the Kohanim. Therefore, it retains its Chiyuv Me'ilah.
 
2. According to Rebbi Yehoshua, since it was brought on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach, as soon as the Kohen cuts one of the Simanim it becomes a Chatas ha'Of. There is no Chiyuv Me'ilah for a Chatas after Shechitah.
 
3. Melikah is valid regardless of where on the Mizbe'ach it is done. Before it can become an Olas ha'Of, it becomes a Chatas she'Lo Lishmah, since it was brought like an Olas ha'Of. A Chatas she'Lo Lishmah is Pasul.
 
4. A Chatas brought on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach is Pasul. If the Kohen brought both birds on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach, only the Chatas is valid.
 
5. An Olas ha'Of brought on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach is a Chatas, according to Rebbi Yehoshua. Nevertheless, Rachel, who is obligated to bring a Chatas, does not fulfill her obligation with the bird which belongs to Leah.
 
6. Only the Olos are valid. The Chata'os are Pasul, since a Chatas brought on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach is Pasul. If the Kohen brought all of them on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach, only the Chata'os are valid, because an Olah brought on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach is Pasul.
 
7. The two Kanim -- from each of which one bird was designated as a Chatas and one as an Olah -- are Pasul, because perhaps the Olos were brought on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach and the Chata'os were brought on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach. However, the Kan which was left Stam is valid, if we know for certain that the Kohen brought one bird from each Kan on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach and the other bird from each Kan on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach. Whichever bird was brought on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach is a Chatas, and whichever bird was brought on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach is an Olah. Even though we do not know which woman fulfilled her obligation with the Chatas and which one fulfilled her obligation with the Olah, they bring another Kan and stipulate that if the first Kan was a Chatas for Rachel and an Olah for Leah, then this Kan is an Olah for Rachel and a Chatas for Leah, or vice versa.
 
8. The birds of the Kan that she brings for her Neder are both Olos. Of the birds of the Kan that she brings for the birth, one is an Olah and one is a Chatas. Therefore, the Kohen must bring three out of the four birds on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach.
 
9. Since the Kohen brought only two of the birds on the upper part of the Mizbe'ach, one of her Olos is Pasul. Therefore, she must being one bird as an Olah from the same type of bird that she brought for the other Olah.
 
10. The first Kan that the Kohen brought is for the birth, and the second Kan is for her Neder. One of the Olos of the Kan which he brought for her Neder is Pasul, since they are both Olos and the Kohen brought one of them on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach. When she brings an Olah to replace the one that is Pasul, she must bring the same type of bird that she brought as the other Olah (for her Neder). Since it is not known whether the Kohen brought the Torim or the Bnei Yonah first, she must bring one of each.
 
11. Since she must bring a specific type of bird for her Neder and she does not know if she obligated herself to bring Torim or Bnei Yonah, if all of the birds are Torim she must bring one more Tor to make up for the Tor which the Kohen brought on the lower part of the Mizbe'ach, and another Kan from Bnei Yonah in case she specified in her Neder to bring Bnei Yonah. If the two sets of birds that the Kohen brought were two different types of birds and it is not known which set he brought first, the woman must bring two Bnei Yonah and two Torim, since the Kan that the Kohen brought last was for her Neder, and we do not know which Kan the Kohen brought last. Therefore, the woman must bring a Kan of each type of bird in order to ensure that she fulfills her Neder, since she does not know which type of bird she specified in her Neder.
