ZEVACHIM 31 - Dedicated by Elliot and Lori Linzer in honor of the birthday of Neti Linzer.

SUMMARY

1. A Kohen brings a Korban with intent to eat half of an olive's size after the allotted time, and half of an olive's size outside the allotted place, and then another half of an olive's size after the allotted time. According to Rava, the Korban is Pigul. Rav Hamnuna disagrees.

2. A Kohen brings a Korban with intent to eat half of an olive's size outside the allotted place, and half of an olive's size after the allotted time, and then another half of an olive's size after the allotted time. According to Rav Dimi, it is Pigul. Ravin disagrees.

3. A Kohen brings a Korban with intent to eat half of an olive's size after the allotted time, and another half of an olive's size after the allotted time, and another half of an olive's size outside the allotted place. Everyone agrees that the Korban is Pigul.

4. A Kohen brings a Korban with intent to eat half of an olive's size after the allotted time, and half of an olive's size outside the allotted place, and then another half of an olive's size after the allotted time. According to Rav Ashi, the Korban is Pigul.

5. If one egg's size of food which is a Rishon l'Tum'ah is combined with one egg's size of a Sheni l'Tum'ah, the combination is a Rishon. If the food is divided in half, each half is a Sheni l'Tum'ah.

6. If, after the egg's size of food is divided up, each half falls separately onto Terumah, the Terumah is Pasul but not Tamei. If both halves fall together onto Terumah, the Terumah is Tamei.

7. If half of an egg's size of food became Tamei from an Av ha'Tum'ah, and another half of an egg's size became Tamei from a Vlad ha'Tum'ah, the combination is regarded as a Sheni l'Tum'ah.

8. A Kohen brings a Korban with intent to feed an olive's size to the dogs after the allotted time. The Korban is Pigul.

9. A Kohen brings a Korban with intent to feed an olive's size to two people after the allotted time. The Korban is Pigul.

10. A Kohen brings a Korban with intent to eat an olive's size after the allotted time in more than the time of Kedei Achilas Peras. It is a Safek whether the Korban is Pigul.

11 If the person who slaughters a Korban has a Machshavah of Pigul to eat something which is not normally eaten, or a Machshavah to consume something on the Mizbe'ach which is not normally consumed, the Korban is valid. Rebbi Eliezer disagrees.

12. A Kohen brings a Korban with intent to eat half of an olive's size after the allotted time, and with intent to burn half of an olive's size on the Mizbe'ach after the allotted time. The Korban is valid.

A BIT MORE

1. Rava maintains that since the Kohen had in mind to eat an olive's size altogether after the allotted time, the Korban is Pigul, since his intention to eat only half of an olive's size outside the allotted place does not negate a Machshavas Pigul of a full k'Zayis. Rav Hamnuna maintains that since his intent to eat half of an olive's size outside the allotted place came before a Machshavas Pigul of a full k'Zayis, the Korban is Pasul but not Pigul.

2. Rav Dimi maintains that since the Kohen's intent to eat two halves of an olive's size after the allotted time was not interrupted by any other Machshavah, the Korban is Pigul. Ravin disagrees; since the Kohen's intent to eat a half of an olive's size outside the allotted place came first, it negates the subsequent intent to eat a half of an olive's size after the allotted time, and therefore the Korban is Pasul and not Pigul.

3. Since the Machshavas Pigul of two halves of an olive's size was not interrupted by any other Machshavah, the subsequent Machshavah of half of an olive's size does not negate the Machshavas Pigul.

4. Rav Ashi agrees with Rava that a Machshavas Pigul of two halves of an olive is not negated by a different Machshavah of half of an olive's size between them. Rav Ashi goes even further than Rava and maintains that even if the other Machshavah of half of an olive's size occurred in one Dibur with the Machshavas Pigul, it does not negate the Machshavas Pigul.

5. After the food is divided up, there is less than an egg's size of a Rishon l'Tum'ah in each half, and therefore it is only a Sheni l'Tum'ah.

6. When a Sheni l'Tum'ah comes into contact with Terumah, the Terumah becomes Pasul but not Tamei. However, if a Rishon l'Tum'ah comes into contact with Terumah, the Terumah becomes Tamei (and can be Metamei other Terumah to make it Pasul). Therefore, if the two halves fall onto Terumah at the same time, since their total volume is an egg's size of Rishon l'Tum'ah, the Terumah becomes Tamei.

7. The half of an egg's size which became Tamei from an Av ha'Tum'ah is a Rishon. The half of an egg's size which became Tamei from a Vlad ha'Tum'ah is a Sheni. Therefore, the combination is a Sheni. If it comes into contact with Terumah, the Terumah is Pasul but not Tamei.

8. Feeding the meat of a Korban to dogs is considered an Achilah, and even consuming it in a fire is considered an Achilah. If the Kohen intends to burn the meat in a fire after the allotted time and he uses a Lashon of Achilah and not a Lashon of Haktarah, the Korban is Pigul.

9. Although each person will eat only half of an olive's size, since between them an olive of the Korban will be eaten after the allotted time, the Korban is Pigul.

10. The doubt is whether the Machshavas Pigul of Achilah is compared to the Achilah of the Mizbe'ach (which is slow), or to the Achilah of a person (and one who eats this amount of food in such a long amount of time is not considered to have done an act of eating with regard to other Mitzvos).

11. For example, he intended to eat the Eimurim after the allotted time for that Korban, or to burn the flesh of the Korban on the Mizbe'ach after the allotted time. The Korban is valid according to the Tana Kama. Rebbi Eliezer maintains that the Korban is Pigul.

12. The Machshavah of eating and the Machshavah of burning on the Mizbe'ach do not combine to invalidate the Korban. Since the Machshavah for each one was less than an olive's size, the Korban is valid.
