SUMMARY

1. If the Leviyim dismantle the Mishkan, but the Mizbe'ach is still in place, Kodshei Kodashim may be eaten.

2. Rav Huna says that the Mizbe'ach in Shiloh was constructed from stones.

3. The Beraisa states that the fire which descended from heaven on the copper Mizbe'ach of Moshe Rabeinu remained there until the time of Shlomo ha'Melech. The fire which descended from heaven in the time of Shlomo ha'Melech was not removed until the wicked king Menasheh removed it.

4. Rav Nachman bar Yitzchak says that even though the Mizbe'ach in Shiloh was constructed from stones, the copper Mizbe'ach of Moshe Rabeinu was still in use.

5. When the exiled people ascended to Eretz Yisrael for the rebuilding of the second Beis ha'Mikdash, four Amos were added to the Mizbe'ach on the south and on the west.

A BIT MORE

1. Although the Mishkan is dismantled, the Kodshei Kodashim do not become Pasul as Yotzei, because even when the Mishkan is being transported it is still called an Ohel Mo'ed. However, if the Mizbe'ach is not in place, eating Kodshei Kodashim is forbidden.

2. The copper Mizbe'ach of Moshe Rabeinu was replaced in Shiloh with hollowed-out copper filled with stones.

3. When the Mishkan was transported in the Midbar, a protective cover was placed on the Mizbe'ach so that the fire would not go out. When the Beis ha'Mikdash was built in the time of Shlomo ha'Melech, the copper Mizbe'ach was replaced with a stone Mizbe'ach and a new fire descended from heaven.

4. The Rabanan say that the copper Mizbe'ach was placed next to the stone Mizbe'ach. When a Korban was sacrificed on the stone Mizbe'ach in Shiloh, sparks would fly from the copper Mizbe'ach. Rav Papa says that in Shiloh, sometimes Korbanos would be sacrificed on the stone Mizbe'ach and sometimes on the copper Mizbe'ach.

5. Rav Yosef says that the Mizbe'ach was expanded because the Mizbe'ach of 28 by 28 Amos, which stood in the first Beis ha'Mikdash, was not large enough during the era of the second Beis ha'Mikdash. In the first Beis ha'Mikdash, a fire descended from heaven onto the Mizbe'ach, and thus less space was needed. In the second Beis ha'Mikdash, no fire descended from heaven, and thus more space was needed. Bar Kapara says that the Mizbe'ach was expanded so that the Nesachim which were poured on the southwest corner of the Mizbe'ach would go directly into the Shisin, the opening in the ground right off the southwest corner of the Mizbe'ach.
