SUMMARY

1. If the Beis Din rules erroneously and the people act upon the ruling, a Par is brought. If the Kohen Gadol rules erroneously for himself and acts upon his ruling, he brings a Par.
 
2. A Nasi brings a Korban Chatas even if he commits an Aveirah b'Shogeg without first ruling erroneously.
 
3. A Kohen Gadol brings a Korban Asham, but not an Asham Taluy.
 
4. A Kohen Gadol and a Nasi bring a Sei'rah for worshipping Avodah Zarah b'Shogeg.
 
5. If a Kohen Gadol ruled erroneously for himself at the same time that Beis Din ruled the same way, the Chatas of the people atones for the Kohen Gadol as well.
 
6. If the ruling of the Kohen Gadol was on Chelev and the ruling of the Beis Din was on Avodah Zarah, the Kohen Gadol is obligated to bring a separate Chatas.
 
7. If the ruling of the Kohen Gadol was on one type of Chelev and the ruling of the Beis Din was on a different type of Chelev, it is a doubt whether the Kohen Gadol is obligated to bring a separate Chatas.
 
8. If the answer to the previous doubt is that the two types of Chelev are considered the same Isur, then what is the law when the Kohen Gadol's ruling was on blood and the ruling of the Beis Din was on Chelev? In such a case, there is a doubt about whether the Kohen Gadol is obligated to bring a separate Chatas.
 
9. If Beis Din issues an erroneous ruling on Avodah Zarah, a Par and Sa'ir are brought only if the ruling partially uprooted the Mitzvah.
 
10. According to Rebbi, a Kohen Gadol who commits an Aveirah of Avodah Zarah b'Shogeg must bring a Korban Chatas, even if he was not acting upon his own erroneous ruling. The Chachamim disagree.

A BIT MORE

1. If an individual commits an Aveirah b'Shogeg without relying on the ruling of Beis Din, he must bring a Kisbah or Sei'rah as a Korban Chatas. A Kohen Gadol who commits an Aveirah b'Shogeg without first ruling erroneously is exempt completely from bringing a Korban Chatas.
 
2. However, a Nasi brings a Sa'ir, while an ordinary individual who commits an Aveirah b'Shogeg beings a Kisbah or Sei'rah.
 
3. The Kohen Gadol is obligated to bring a Korban Chatas only if he first ruled erroneously for himself. Therefore, it is a Gezeiras ha'Kasuv that he is exempt from an Asham Taluy.
 
4. Although the Korban Chatas of a Nasi is a Sa'ir and that of a Kohen Gadol is a Par, for the sin of Avodah Zarah they both bring a Se'irah.
 
5. The Chatas that is brought by the people atones for the Kohen Gadol because the Kohen Gadol shares many of the same Dinim as Beis Din. A Chatas is not brought for a ruling of Beis Din unless it only partially uproots a Mitzvah of the Torah. The same is true with regard to the ruling of the Kohen Gadol.
 
6. Even if the ruling of the Kohen Gadol was in the same place as the ruling of the Beis Din, since they ruled on two different Isurim he is obligated to bring a separate Korban.
 
7. Certain types of Chelev are learned from different sources in the Torah. Therefore, there is a doubt about whether they are regarded as separate Isurim.
 
8. The doubt is that since the same Korban is brought for both, perhaps they are considered to be the same Isur.
 
9. Avodah Zarah is no different from any other Mitzvah. A Par is brought only if the people acted upon an erroneous ruling of Beis Din which only partially uproots a Mitzvah.
 
10. However, everyone agrees that the Kohen Gadol brings a Se'irah for the Aveirah of Avodah Zarah. All agree that a Kohen Gadol does not bring an Asham Taluy.
