Question

SUMMARY

A Nazir Tahor who becomes Tamei must cut his hair and bring Korbanos Tum'ah.

A person who becomes a Nazir while he is Tamei does not have to cut his hair or bring Korbanos Tum'ah.

Rebbi holds that a Nazir who becomes Tamei may not start counting his days of Nezirus until the eighth day. (1)

Someone who takes on Nezirus while he is Tamei, the seventh day of Tum'ah counts for his thirty days of Nezirus. (2)

A Nazir who becomes Tamei again on the seventh day of Tum'ah brings one set of Korbanos for both Tum'os. (3)

If a Nazir becomes Tamei again on the eighth day of Tum'ah he must bring separate Korbanos for each Tum'ah. (4)

If a Nazir becomes Tamei again on the night of the eighth day of Tum'ah according to the opinion that the night is Mechusar Zeman he only brings one set of Korbanos for both Tum'os.

According to the opinion that the night is not Mechusar Zeman he must bring a separate set of Korbanos for each Tum'ah.

Rebbi Eliezer says that if a Nazir becomes Tamei again on the eighth day of his Tum'ah even if he had not yet brought Korbanos for the first Tum'ah he must bring separate Korbanos for each Tum'ah.

The Chachamim hold that if Nazir becomes Tamei again on the eighth day of his Tum'ah before he brings his Chatas he only has to bring one set of Korbanos. (5)

Rebbi Yishmael Ben Rebbi Yochanan Ben Berokah says that a Nazir Tamei may not count his thirty days of Nezirus until he brings his Asham. (5)

A BIT MORE

1. Rebbi Yosi Bar Yehudah holds that he may start counting his Nezirus from the seventh day.

2. Even Rebbi agrees that he may start counting from the seventh day since he does not bring Korbanos Tum'ah.

3. Even according to Rebbi Yosi Bar Yehudah who holds that he starts counting the Nezirus on the seventh day since he does not bring the Korbanos Tum'ah until the eighth day he does not have to bring a separate set of Korbanos for each Tum'ah.

4. Since the eighth day is the day for the Hakravas Korbanos of the first Tum'ah if he becomes Tamei again on that day he must bring a separate set of Korbanos for each Tum'ah.

5. The Chachamim hold that once a Nazir Tamei brings his Chatas he may start counting his thirty days of Nezirus even though he had not yet brought his Asham.

6. Even though he did not yet bring his Olah.

BRIEF INSIGHT

AN OLAH

The Chachamim hold that once a Nazir Tamei brings his Chatas he may start counting his thirty days of Nezirus even though he did not bring his Asham. However, no Pasuk is required to exclude an Olah because an Olah is a Doron. Rebbi Yishmael Ben Rebbi Yochanan Ben Berokah says that a Nazir Tamei may not count his thirty days of Nezirus until he brings his Asham and the Pasuk of ba'Yom ha'Hu is excluding the Olah which is not Me'akev. Why is a Pasuk required to exclude an Olah according to Rebbi Yishmael? The Keren Orah answers that Rebbi Yishmael holds that an Olah is not regarded as a Doron. Even though an Olah is not brought for a sin however Chazal teach us that an Olah atones for Mitzvos Aseh and for Hirhurei Aveirah.

QUICK HALACHAH

MANY TUM'OS

A Nazir that became Tamei many times whether he was warned individually on each Tum'ah or not, he brings only one set of Korbanos for all of the Tum'os. This is only true when the subsequent Tum'os occurred before he brought his Korbanos for the first Tum'ah. Even if he delayed bringing his Chatas for many days after he became Tahor and he became Tamei again in the meantime he only has to bring one set of Korbanos. However if he became Tamei again after he brought his Chatas even though he had not yet brought his Asham and Olah he must bring a new set of Korbanos. (Rambam Hilchos Nezirus 6:15)
