YEVAMOS 71 - Dedicated l'Iluy Nishmas Hershel Avraham ben Simcha Yosef z'l by his daughter and son in law.

SUMMARY

A Mumar may not eat the Korban Pesach, but he may eat Ma'aser Sheni.
 
A Mumar may eat Matzah and Maror.
 
A Nochri may not eat from the Korban Pesach even if he is circumcised.
 
One who vows not to benefit from Arelim may benefit from an uncircumcised Jew, but not from a Nochri even if he is circumcised. (1)
 
Rebbi Akiva: A Ger who did not yet immerse, or a child born with a Bris Milah, may not eat from the Korban Pesach. (2)
 
One who has a son or servant who is uncircumcised at the time of the Shechitah or eating of the Korban Pesach may not participate in the Korban.
 
An infant who has a fever may not have a Bris Milah until a full seven days pass from the time the fever breaks.
 
Once a child is born, the previously closed mouth of the infant becomes open and the previously open umbilical cord becomes closed. (3)
 
One who is uncircumcised may become Tahor from the ashes of the Parah Adumah.
 
When Klal Yisrael first entered Eretz Yisrael, they performed Milah and Tevilah, and they brought the Korban Pesach in a state of Taharah.
 
The Mitzvah of Peri'ah was not given to Avraham Avinu; it was given for the first time at the time of Yehoshua bin Nun.
 
The Milah, including the severing of the Tzitzin, must be completed in order to permit one to eat Terumah.

A BIT MORE

1. One who vows not to benefit from the Mulim may benefit from a circumcised Nochri, but not from a Jew even if he is uncircumcised.
 
2. Rebbi Akiva: A Ger who performed Bris Milah but did not yet immerse in the Mikvah is not a Ger. Similarly, a child who was born with a Bris Milah must have a Bris by means of letting a drop of blood. Rebbi Eliezer: A Nochri who performed Bris Milah but did not yet immerse in the Mikvah is a valid Ger. Similarly, a child who was born with a Bris Milah does not need any Bris at all.
 
3. If this does not occur, the child cannot live even for a second. However, if the child is screaming he can live even if it does not take place.

BRIEF INSIGHT

THE OBLIGATION OF THE MOTHER TO CIRCUMCISE HER SON
 
The Gemara says that if either parent is incarcerated in jail and is freed between the Shechitah and the eating of the Korban Pesach, he or she must circumcise the child; otherwise, the parent may not eat from the Korban Pesach. Rashi says that the Mitzvah of Milah is an obligation on the father and on the mother. If they were locked up and sent an agent to bring the Korban Pesach for them and they were subsequently released, if their son is uncircumcised they must circumcise him before they eat the Korban Pesach. The Maharsha asks that only a father is obligated to circumcise his son; the mother has no obligation. The Maharsha answers that just as a woman who owns servants who are uncircumcised may not eat from the Korban Pesach, so a woman whose son is uncircumcised may not eat from the Korban Pesach, even though she otherwise would not be obligated to circumcise him.

CIRCUMCISION OF THE SERVANTS
 
Just as having uncircumcised sons and servants prevents one from bringing the Korban Pesach, they prevent one from eating from the Korban Pesach. What is such a case [in which one has uncircumcised sons and servants at the time of the eating of the Korban Pesach, but not at the time of the Shechitah]? If one buys a servant after slaughtering the Korban Pesach, or a son is born who did not reach the appropriate time for the Bris Milah until after the slaughtering of the Korban Pesach, it is forbidden for him to eat from the Korban Pesach until he circumcises the servant or son. What is the case that the appropriate time for the circumcision is after the Shechitah of the Korban Pesach? If the child had a fever which broke exactly seven days previously, the waiting period is seven full days, or if he had an eye illness which was healed after the Shechitah, or if he was a Tumtum and it was discovered that he was male after the Shechitah. (Rambam, Hilchos Korban Pesach 9:9)
