DAF DISCUSSIONS - BERACHOS 12

BLUM asked:

IF YOU MAKE BY MISTAKE A BOREI PRI HAEITZ ON WINE, IF YOU HAVE TO MAKE ANOTHER BRACHA BOREI PRI HAGAFEN WHEN YOU RELIZE YOUR MISTAKE.

BLUM, CLIFTON, NJ

The Kollel replies:

The Mishnah Berurah (208:70) and Sha'ar ha'Tziyun (ibid. 67) conclude that there is an argument between the Rishonim regarding this Halachah. Since we normally rule in such cases that "Safek Berachos l'Hakel", the Mishnah Berurah concludes that one who did say a Borei Pri ha'Etz or ha'Adamah over wine should not say another Berachah.

If one realized his mistake within approximately 3 seconds of finishing the Berachah, he should correct himself by adding the words "Borei Pri ha'Gafen."

Best wishes,

Shmuel Bloom
