Artscroll footnotes Chida (attached) on Yoreh deah 334
What is this about? I do not follow at all? what are drushes on this passuk with HaShem and Sleep and PIggul?
Howard G Schild, Monroe, CT
Dear HG,
Rava uses an expression to explain his opinion, that the Pigul reawakens.
The basis is the Pasuk in Tehilim 78:65-"AND Hash-m awakened likee a sleeper". The problem arises: is there a problem with using this expression since someone could claim that there is disrespect to Hash-m in inserting the word Pigul in place of Hash-m (comparison, Chas veShalom?)
The Chida mentions a similar question that once someone used a parable to describe a certain Talmid Chacham which as is contained no problem, but the continuation would be insulting- is this considered Bizayon Talmid Chacham. He answers that its Mutar since what he says is alright, and what is "Sheyarei Lashon- remainders of the tongue are ignored. The proof is from Rava- there is obviously no problem in his opinion to talk like this.
All the best,
