What are the implications of the word "ve'ha'Nish'arim"?
Ramban: It implies that the hornets will only be needed to ferret out the small minority of fugitives who will go into hiding after the vast majority of the seven nations, including all of the (thirty-one) kings have fallen in battle, their status as nations destroyed forever. 1
See Pesukim 22-24. The Navi writes in Shoftim 1:21 that they did not dispossess the Yevusi of Yerushalayim, and they were there in the days of David (Pirkei d'R. Eliezer 36)! Perhaps the Ramban is reeferring to what Hashem promised, had Yisrael not been lax in fighting them
How will we reconcile this Pasuk with the Gemara in Sotah 36a, which states that the hornet did not cross the Yarden?
