Why does the Torah see fit to insert the words "me'Arvos Mo'av" - seeing as we know that that is where he was?

1.

Rashi: To inform us that Moshe made the ascent in one step - in spite of the many steps that led up to it.

2)

What are the implications of "Vayar'eihu Hashem es Kol ha'Aretz"?

1.

Rashi #1 (citing the Sifri): Hashem showed Moshe the whole of Eretz Yisrael when it was at peace and the oppressors that were destined to tyrannize it (and the leaders who were destined to save it).

2.

Rashi #2: Refer to Devarim 3:27:1:1.

3.

Rashi #3 (in Divrei Hayamim 1, 25:5): If Hashem had not shown Moshe the entire land, he could not possibly have seen such distances on his own.

4.

Targum Yonasan: Hashem showed Moshe all the strong men of the land and the mighty deeds that they were destined to perform.

3)

What is the significance of "Gil'ad"?

1.

Ramban #1: Hashem showed Moshe the land west of the Yarden from Gil'ad, where Har N'vo - the part on which Moshe was currently standing - was situated, as far as Dan on the north-western border. 1

2.

Ramban #2: Gil'ad was in the Levanon in Eretz Yisrael 2 - see Yirmiyah, 22:6.

3.

Targum Yonasan: Hashem showed him Yiftach from Gil'ad.

1

Ramban: As the Pasuk writes in Shmuel 2. 24:2.

2

The Ramban does not explain why the Torah mentions it. Perhaps it is because it was the area in Eretz Yisrael that was directly in front of him. (EC)

4)

What is the significance of "Dan" here?

1.

Rashi: Hashem showed him the tribe of Dan worshipping Avodah-Zarah, 1 and Shimshon who would descend from Dan, who would save Yisrael.

2.

Ramban: Hashem showed Moshe the land west of the Yarden from Gil'ad, as far as Dan on the north-western border.

3.

Targum Yonasan: Hashem showed him the victories of Shimshon from the tribe of Dan.

1

Rashi: See Shoftim, 18:30.
