Why does the Torah need to write "ve'Chol ha'Taf ba'Nashim asher Lo Yad'u Mishkav Zachar, Hachayu Lachem"? Since it already stated "ve'Chol Ishah Yoda'as Ish... Harogu", it implies that the others are to be kept alive?

Riva #1 (citing R"A - according to R' Shimon in Yevamos, 60b): "Hachayu Lachem" teaches us that a girl who converted before three years may marry a Kohen, since Pinchas was with them - and the Torah writes "Hachayu lachem" - incorporates him.

Riva #2 (citing R"A - according to the Chachamim, "Hachayu lachem" means 'as slaves' - incorporating Pinchas - but not to marry, since Pinchas was a Kohen. 1

Riva #3: If not for "ve'Chol ha'Taf ba'Nashim...", we might have thought that "ve'Chol Ishah Yoda'as Ish" refers to women who have been intimate, and women who were not intimate are kept alive, and also all Taf, even if they were intimate. However, now that the Torah writes "ve'Chol ha'Taf ba'Nashim ... ", we must say that the Pasuk is discussing only women who have reached the agee of intimacy.

Both opinions need to learn from "Hachayu lachem". Granted, the Chachamim reject R. Shimon's proof. But how can they imply the opposite? Does "lachem" imply only as slaves, and not as wives? (PF). "Hachayu lachem" means 'Keep alive for yourselves' - for any purpose that is permissible, for Pinchas as slaves, for everybody else as slaves or as wives.

Why does the Torah write "ve'Chol ha'Taf ba'Nashim..."? Since it said to kill the male Taf, we know that the female Taf are kept alive?
